A clear brown beer with no head. Meaty cassis fruit aroma, leather, and cough drops. In mouth, a very sweet cassis, with lactic notes, light effervescence remaining. Bottle is BB 09 1999, so made in around 1989! Surprising and overall, nice. Old Stock Tasting June 2008.

Bottled (BBE 2007), not sure how long this has been in my coldcellar. Deep rubyreddish colour with small off-white head. Aroma is lots of black currants and other dark berries with some mild sourness to it. Flavour is quite much the same with some slight artificial notes as well as also blueberries.

Bottle, bought @ Kulminator, Antwerpen.
[Vintage 2003]
Pours a deep pale red with a good, frothy off white head - impressive for a lambic. Aroma is sweet with lots of black currants, some oak and a slight tartness. Great creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet at first with lots of black currants and raspberries. A slight tartness hits at the far end along with a little barnyard and muskiness. For people who like fx. Melbourn Brth., this would be their cassis.

Tart enough to relieve what could otherwise become cloying sweetness. Has a seductive nose. Mort Subite cassis is accessible enough and I’d return to it now and then. It’s a fun beer but I don’t appreciate the baby sized 25 cl bottles.
