An interesting lambic... fizzy, amber colour. sour-sweet taste, dry finish. Smell is weird, different than the taste.

Bottle, from Biancon, Aarhus. Pours deep pale brown with a big, bubbly off white head. Aroma is mild for a Lambic, slight sour fruityness, some caramel and a bit of yeast. A little weird flavour. Begins slightly sour with a clear apple presence, then turns sugary sweet, before ending on yet another mild sour edge. Not the greatest Lambic in the world, but probably one to use for introduction into this world.

250 ml bottle, Best Before 07/29/07, via overseas trade. Pours a perfectly clear amber to copper body under a one inch fizzy beige head that left lots of lacing as it faded. Very light carbonation. Aroma is a mix of sweat ,rotting green apples, artificial sweetners, and muscat grapes. Not exactly gueuze-like. The heavy sweetness pretty well masks any lambic features. A little corny, some limp green apple, and a light lemony smack on the finish. Mouthfeel is thin and watery with a cloying sugary finish. Moderate fizzy carbonation. Just as bad as the other pseudo-Gueuzes that ought to be classified as Faros. Though just a hair better than the St. Louis Gueuze I had just before this.

Bottle, 25cl. A clear, golden beer with an off-white head. Sightly vinegar-like nose, but far from being as sour as wished for, it is almost sugary. Sweet, sour and sugary flavor, both initially and in the finish. Medium body, quite astringent. Disappointing but still quite good, way too sweet, almost faro-ish. Rating: 6-4-6-4-13-3.3. (081003)

Bottle, at Cardinal. Clear, golden pour, with an off-white head leaving nice lacings. Sour, slightly sweet nose with lemon, apple and barnyard notes. Sweet and sour flavor with some lemon and apples. Medium body. A bit sour finish. It is too sweet, but quite refreshing. A pity it’s only available in bars in Norway. (070623)

Clear amber with thick lush foam head that lasts and leaves lacing but does not look like a traditional gueze. The aroma is sweet, spritzy, with pop qualities. Apple and fruits. Smells sweet but not necessarily bad. Sweet, somewhat sticky palate with mild carbonation. For what it is it’s not bad, but just isn’t a traditioanal gueze. Remains sweet with lots of apple character. I used to get mad at this beer, now I just accept it for what it is.

Tasted 2007-07-24. Fresh bottle, 37,5cl. Orange, dense - white head. Aroma of acid and candy. Dry taste of fermented apples and also some artificial sweetener. A good gueuze, but not as good as the oude gueuze.
