Old rating:
37.5 cl Bottle
Hazy amber, big creamy off-white head which leaves a lot of pretty lacing.
Unexpectedly fruity sweet aroma - apple, peach, citrus.
Flat mouthfeel, lightbodied, one-dimensional fruity base, slight metallic notes, fruity finish with hint tartness, fruity aftertaste.
Definetely not what I expected...

Initially the primary aroma is of vinegar, followed by sourdough bread and bran flakes. Pears and grapes come next with a very light nod to some horseblanket and band-aid. Throughout it all there is a strong element of sugar, almost coming across like candied pineapple. The flavour is quite sweet, sugary, with forceful notes of vinegar and cereal. Sometimes I’m struck by a pronounced Granny Smith apple flavour. the finish and aftertaste trail off rapidly with notes of overripe peaches. Medium bodied, almost a sticky texture, with fairly high carbonation. More sourness than I encountered last time, but similarly over-the-top levels of sweetness. Can we move this to Lambic-Faro yet? ; ) Rating lowered by 0.2. I probably enjoyed it a little more this time around, but I’m far more critical at this point, so there you have it.
0,33L bottle, snifter. Starts with a large, frothy white head that’s quickly diminishing. Clear medium caramel-amber hue and not yeasty beasties... :( Funky and tart light fruits start off the aroma: apples, pears, white grapes, yellow cherries. The funk is...sweaty and doughy mostly. Not really strong in the Brett/hoserblanket arena. Other notes of hay, straw, perfume, and traces of honey and pepper. The sweat notes sort of bug me, honestly. There’s some other stuff going on that’s okay, but nothing incredibly impressive. Ack ack ack! Waay to sweet for my lambic tastes. (Yes I rate these fuckers to style.) Starts off with a table sugar like apple sweetness which is somewhat balanced by a sharp acidity and fades into a milder bread and honey sweetness offset by a yellow cherry tartness. The lack of complexity and non Gueuzeness is appalling. Medium bodied with a sticky sweet texture and lively carbonation. Just...not a lambic. I don’t know what else to say. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 26, 2005 Golden lambic with a creamy white head, lacing. Sweet funky apple aroma with lactic notes, fairly enjoyable and in style. In mouth, sweet tart apple juice with some some of the rough qualities expected in a gueuze, but lacking the sharp vinegar qualities of the craft gueuze. Bought at LCBO one year ago. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Oct 20, 2005 Quite dark for a gueuze, not the onion skin color as Jackson describes, but more of the amber color of an IPA. It has a nicely structured, honeycomb, white head that sustains itself well and left nice lacing though it never formed a large head even when poured strong. Aroma of a lambic light. I notice sweetness that is not correct for style but also subdued tartness, stale pond water, and the sensation of biting into a fresh, sweet apple. Flavor has a nice, long, continuously ascending acidity that I find very pleasant but rather one dimensional. Very tasty but lacks the galactic funk that the Mothership could provide. Bootsy Collins needs to visit this brewery with his bass guitar and turn this mother out. This was gueuze with training wheels. zug4abby (287), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 20, 2005 pours a clear coppery color with a small head and decent amount of lacing. the aroma is bitter and citrusy. The flavor isn’t as much as I was expecting but still enjoyable nonetheless. There is definitely a bite, but not a huge one as is expected with a gueze! Not bad. Not great. Butter and spice, only slightly tart. No real over the top lambicness going on. Nice and mellow really. Nasty colour lets it down a little for me. dortmunder (961), Herdecke, Germany

Tart, woody, appley and slightly vinegary aroma. Not very tart, but also not overly sweet. Cidery, vinegary notes. A little lemon also in there. Ends cidery. Quite nice.
