| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 8, 2004 This beer was sampled by bottle at the San Diego Strong Ale Festival 2004. This beer poured a very clean and clear yellow color with a soapy white head and a small degree of lacing. The aroma is SWEET with lemon, cardboard and a hell of a lot of sugar in the nose. I mean this beer had tart written all over its forehead! The flavor is..surprise..TART and sweet...very sweet! Lemon, honey, sugar, cardboardy dryness, and some souring barnyard and leather appeal in the finish. Definitely got more interesting as it warmed, but it also became sweeter and sweeter as the honey and sugar took over. There was a hint of fruity tartness and lemon in the finish that grew as it warmed... an interesting beer, but very tough to comprehend and incredibly lopsided to the extremes of sweet and sour! beerguy101 (3907), Newark, California, USA

Malts are fruity and sweet. Moderately tart/sour. Very smooth tasting given all that tart/sour verus sweetness thing that is going on. Light and refreshing. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is tart. herbjones (742), Orange, California, USA

Light sour aroma, vinegar followed by some sweet candy. Taste is very sweet. Must be a low budget gueuze with a bunch of sugar dumped in. 50% of what a real gueuze tastes like. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 1, 2004 A clear copper color with a foamy beige head that retains it’s shape. Balsamic vinegar, Chardonnay, moss covered fallen logs, cotton candy, loads of scents here. Sweet, sour, repeat. A sugary pine taste with a quick tart follow leading to a richer sweet taste with a slight tart aftertaste. A real roller coaster ride for the taste buds! I am just starting to appreciate this style. mustang3 (254), Whitby, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Nov 30, 2004 Thanks for sending this out Dave. Pours an orangey yellow colour with a white head. Great barnyard funky aroma promises much. The taste is moderately sour and enjoyably citric, but it seems a little watery. The aftertaste is really a let down as it fades to balnd sweetness. I probably owuld have appreciated this more without trying cantillon first.
