Not a fan of lambics but I figured one needs to have one at such a cathedral to Belgian beer. I actually enjoyed the beer. Pours with a red color and a pink to purplish head. Aromas of funkiness and tart cherries. Flavor profile similar, very tart cherry notes together with lemons. What stuck out for me was how dry on the palate the beer, almost dusty like a great Merlot. This was a great palate clenaser between Belgian strong ales. lassem (310), Copenhagen, Denmark

A huge fluffy pink head with a nose full of sweet cherrys. The colour is deep red with almost no transparens to it. The taste suprises by being very sour compared to the nose - but still with fruity notes. HInts of buttery cream and wet hay. reakt (937), Greater London, England

Was really excited to see this on the list, as Mort Subite Fond/Oude is one of my favorites, but felt a bit a let down once I tucked in. Blood red with a thin pinkish head, in fact, appearance was possibly it’s most redeeming quality. Faint nose of stewed cherries and barnyard, not as full on as I expected and quite toned down. Dry and somewhat salty with a medium body. Flavour was tart cherries and raspberry with hints of lemon, rather short lived on the tongue. Due to some of the other ratings I thought I’d maybe just had a bad bottle so I tried it again, I can’t recall where, but found the experience much the same and refrained from making new notes... Aroma of sour cherry, earth, cream, light marzipan, wood, and some dustiness. Flavor of tart cherry and earthiness with nice acidity and a dry finish. sayravai (3765), Helsinki, Finland
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 28, 2008 (Bottled, 2006 crop) Deep ruby red with a medium, pink and tight, lacy head. Very dry and earthy-leathery, "thick" aroma with some underlying tartness. Dry and somewhat sour, quite acidic flavor with not that much cherries in it, but rather some general-purpose, musty and thick berriness, with some sugariness in the finish. Medium-bodied, acidic and slightly fizzy-carbonated palate. Pretty and sour, but also stuffy, acidic, and even slightly sugary. Not among my favorite krieks. M0RHI (1067), Luxembourg, Luxembourg
