Bottled. A deep red mead. The aroma has lovely notes of cranberries and honey. The flavor is both sweet and acidic from the cranberries with strong notes of cranberries as well as medium notes of alcohol and honey.

Bottled at Akkurat, Stockholm. (12%) Clear dark red perfectly still. Aroma of cinnamon, caramel and cranberries. Slimmed and elegant with restrained sweetness. Freshening and quite drinkable despite it’s size.

Portland Holiday Ale Festival 2004. Pale red colour. Aroma of (what else?) cranberry along with some apple and cinnamon. Ice wine sweetness with a light vineous aroma. Fairly dry feeling in the mouth, cranberry tartness, fruity flavour and surprisingly dry considering the aroma. Quite tasty.

RBSG Portland 2004. No head (still). Body is dark red. Aroma is note of honey, cranberry, flowers. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Full body, syrupy texture, flat carbonation, lightly astringent. I wasn’t expecting a fruited mead when I ordered this (at Alameda Brewing I think), but it was pretty obvious this was cranberry from the first whiff. As such, it’s too much like a cranberry wine might be like, other than the thick body; the mead character doesn’t shine much here.

Small bottle shared with Marcus. Sweet cranberry/honey aroma. Brilliant garnet color. Medium body, no carbonation. Flavor impression is Milk of Magnesia. Chalky. Finish to me is primarily fruity Milk of Magnesia. Very strange.

(Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival, 27 Sep 2008) Clear red colour with no head. Still. Fruity, tart nose with distinct notes of cranberries and cowberries. Fruity, tart taste with cowberries, cranberries and hints of spices. Brilliant balance between sweetness and tartness. Very nice mead.
