Good company, good beer. Kinda sweet in a citrusy way, but not too much. A lemon really brought out the flavor. Where were you, Ecrvich? (hahah!) Too bad they don’t bottle this. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 30, 2004 Draft at Mountain Sun. Pours orange with a thin head. Spicy aroma-cinnamon and ginger. Ginger in the taste which reminds me more of a Christmas ale. Ernest (4499), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 22, 2003 Draught. Body is hazy medium amber. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly hoppy (flowers), with a note of ginger, light note of honey, hint of sassafrass. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. I guessed ginger when I was served this one (and was also thinking about root beer every third or fourth sniff, so I wrote sassafrass down as well), but it turned out it was mainly lemongrass. After the waitress told me, I agreed that lemongrass was apparent, but decided to stick with my original thoughts for the review...it does indeed resemble ginger and sassafrass. The finish is mostly spice bitterness, which is bit more tongue-coating than hop bitterness alone...other than that, the balance is quite good.
