Draught at brewpub, nitro. Black with small tan head, aroma of roasted coffee with lighter notes of chocolate and hops. Malt dominated flavor, specifically of Vienna malts. Lots of chocolate, sugary sweet in taste - too sweet.

Nitro: Pours an opaque creamy black with dark brown edges and a large, dense froth of dark tan head. Aroma of sweet dark malts and a touch of milk chocolate and roastiness. Starts rich and sweet with good chocolate malt flavor drying slightly toward a lingering dark chocolate and roasted finish. Very smooth and tasty with decent complexity.

On tap at the Southern Sun Location. Poured a dark, dark brown color with red edges and a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of roast and chocolate. Tastes of milk chocolate, light coffee, vanilla and roast. Smooth body (I’m guessing this one was on Nitro). Lacing left on the glass.

tap at the brewpub. pitch black with a crea,y lasting nitro head that looks like marshmallow and caramel. roasty chocolate nose, a lot of milk chocolate with a coffee note. coffee grounds and mellow chocolate flavor. nesquick notes with cocoa puffs and a dove bar, yeah, chocolate with decents and enjoyable good coffee finish. the coffee in the finish is the best part, it keeps me drinking even after i’ve had too much.

On nitro tap at brewpub: Classic nitro pour, deep black with cascading foam that finally settles into a creamy off white head. The aroma is hard to detect out of a pint glass, but what I got was light nut and toffee with some slight cocoa undertones. The body is softly carbed and silky smooth. The chocolate really steals the show in the body- it’s sugary sweet like fudge brownie. But the malt adds complexity as well noting toffee, plum, raisin, cherry and brown sugar. Chocolate covered raisins came to mind. Really good, although a bit thin in the middle. Still, it was hard to drink a full pint - the sweet chocolate starts to weigh on you. Would be perfect with a chocolate dessert or cigar.

Beer pours a nearly opaue, dark-brown color with a large, creamy, off-white, fully lasting, nitro-fueled head. The aroma was a bit dampened, but a heavy malt character was apparent in notes of roasted grain, molasses, chocolate and caramel with a moderate note of pine and a miscellaeous note of candy sugar. The flavor was moderately sweet and lightly bitter with an average-length, lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter finish. The palate felt disappointingly thin in the mouth. The body was moderate, the texture was watery and the carbonation was soft.

Draught. Pours dark brown with a thin small tan rocky head. Sweet dark chocolate and toasted malt aroma. Dark silky smooth and sweet chocolate with toasted caramel malt body and coffee notes. Dark and full bodied palate.

Very nice chocolate beer. Beats the pants off Sam Adams chocolate Bock. Flavors are well rounded with the roastiness of the dark malts working well with the chocolate. If they have it on tap, get it.
