| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 2, 2006 On nitro tap at brewpub: Classic nitro pour, deep black with cascading foam that finally settles into a creamy off white head. The aroma is hard to detect out of a pint glass, but what I got was light nut and toffee with some slight cocoa undertones. The body is softly carbed and silky smooth. The chocolate really steals the show in the body- it’s sugary sweet like fudge brownie. But the malt adds complexity as well noting toffee, plum, raisin, cherry and brown sugar. Chocolate covered raisins came to mind. Really good, although a bit thin in the middle. Still, it was hard to drink a full pint - the sweet chocolate starts to weigh on you. Would be perfect with a chocolate dessert or cigar. luckygirl (1221), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 1, 2006 Beer pours a nearly opaue, dark-brown color with a large, creamy, off-white, fully lasting, nitro-fueled head. The aroma was a bit dampened, but a heavy malt character was apparent in notes of roasted grain, molasses, chocolate and caramel with a moderate note of pine and a miscellaeous note of candy sugar. The flavor was moderately sweet and lightly bitter with an average-length, lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter finish. The palate felt disappointingly thin in the mouth. The body was moderate, the texture was watery and the carbonation was soft. BeerandBlues2 (3216), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA

Sweet dark chocolate and toasted malt aroma. Dark silky smooth and sweet chocolate with toasted caramel malt body and coffee notes. Dark and full bodied palate. snowtiger (106), Brighton, Colorado, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 18, 2004 Very nice chocolate beer. Beats the pants off Sam Adams chocolate Bock. Flavors are well rounded with the roastiness of the dark malts working well with the chocolate. If they have it on tap, get it.
