Commercial Description:
This classic beer style follows the same guidelines as if this was being brewed in Cologne, Germany. This golden ale is mashed in with a lactic rest to provide a slight tartness and is fermented a little cooler (64F) than our other ales to give this ale a nice refreshing crispness. This Kolsch derived its name from the huge crane that used to reside right in front of the Mountain Sun.

Draft at Southern Sun. Unfiltered light lemon yellow body with a white head... looks good but doesn’t look like Kolsch. Tangy, sharp lemon up front, resembles lemon juice with a light acidity and citrus note. Over time it mellows (dulling of the palate), but retains some of this sort-of Berliner-weisse sourness, which is strange but not terribly bad. Finishes with a sort of transparent white bread and mild citrus flavor. Not as bad as the previous ratings suggest.

An unclear pale yellow beer with no head. The aroma is wheaty combined with notes of yeast and citrus. The flavor is malty and again with notes of wheat and citrus. The end is very dry and hoppy. Nice Kölsch.

Crisp light hop aroma. Kolsch yeast signature. Crisp, dances on the tongue. Good hop charge. Killer Kolsch!

Draught. Honey and lemon like hazy colour under a small white head. I've not sample many Kolsches before but this one seems well down on the rating scale of any beers I've tasted. Faint wheat beer type aroma. Watery thin body. Mild bitter and citric sourdough sour flavours. Light to stale wheat beer like finish. Strange light acrid feel to the aftertaste.

Draught. Body is hazy light yellow. Aroma is trace malt (grain), lightly hoppy (herbs, lemon), with a note of DMS. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.
