Surprisingly simple aroma, and heck if I could find the juniper. Good flavor balance, and thus an easy quaffer. luckygirl (1221), Boulder, Colorado, USA Feb 18, 2006 Draught at Southern Sun. Beer poured a dark, opaque (passed the flashlight test) brown-black color with a large, frothy, tan, mostly and slowly diminishing head. The aroma was moderately malty with notes of roasted grain, weak coffee and chocolate, lightly hoppy with a note of pine and rounded out with light miscellaneous notes of juniper/gin and brine. The flavor was heavily acidic and lightly sweet, with a short, heavily acidic, lightly bitter finish. lThere were cooling pine/gin retros in the finish, too. The body was medium, the texture was velvety and the carbonation was lively.
