potbeercollege (254), Boulder, Colorado, USA Oct 18, 2009 Draught at Mountain Sun. Very dark brown color, almost black. Small tan white head. Aroma of roasted coffee, notes of chocolate and the Kiohoga River. Ends earthy, short bitterness. Nice brown ale. verenico (10), Boulder, Colorado, USA Oct 14, 2009 Deep brown in color. Very malty brown ale with a hint of caramel flavor. Smooth finish, a solid beer for a nitrogen tap. DJMonarch (6036), Northwich, Cheshire, England Aug 28, 2009 Sampler at the Mountain Sun Pub & Brewery, Boulder 12/10/2008
Caramel malt aroma. Mid brown coloured hoppy crisp and dry with a little bitterness in a full malt finish. CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA Mar 25, 2009 Crushed with Jakebra on tap at the brewpub. Ok brown. A little sour. There’s some nice roast, but just not that great. Average. ratman197 (3139), Arvada, Colorado, USA Jan 25, 2009 On tap at Mountain Sun poured a clear deep dark brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of cocoa, toasted malt, carmel and light nuts. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of milk chocolate, carmel, toasted malt and a hint of nuts with a smooth malty finish. beerheart (237), Erie, Colorado, USA Nov 25, 2007 I’m not a big fan of brown ales. They’re lost between a porter and a scotch ale and don’t know what they want to be. It probably doesn’t help that my first brown was Newcastle, which always tastes skunked to me. This is better than most brown ales that I’ve tasted. Roasted malts, caramel and a hint of chocolate. But on the whole, again, it’d be better to add more malt or more chocolate or more something and make it something else. hopdog (5527), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 12, 2006 On tap at the Southern Sun Location. Poured a deeper reddish / brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas and tastes of nuts, caramel, and toasted malts. waolsen (1220), Littleton, Colorado, USA Dec 9, 2006 tap. Fortunately this beer is better than the football team. black pour with thick tan foamy head. big nut, small smoke and sour malt aroma. Closer to a Porter than a brown. This is a sour bitch. nice nut and creamy mouth. That last line just sounds wrong. good brew.
