Commercial Description:
What's in a name? The brewer's mantra, "more hops," is taken as far as possible in this beer. A deep amber body balances the bitterness and makes that long day at work seem a distant memory. Just ask for a pint of "the dank!!" This beer is also dry hopped with whole flower, Cascade hops.

Draft at Mountain Sun, Boulder, CO, 8/13/08. Pours red with off-white head. Nose is all hops, pine, citrus, and danktasticness. Taste is caramel backbone with mild bitter and a good amount of piny hop flavor. Not too terribly bad.

This beer is very sessionable and so well balanced, and goes with just about everything on their menu. I mean this is really impressive. Fruity citrus hops in the nose, with a bit of black tea and a medium bodied toffee/caramel maltiness, with some herbal hoppiness coming through to balance the malty sweetness in the finish.

Draft at brewery. Dark iced tea/amber body with a thin ring of bubbles. Nose-medium grassy hops, grassy, earthy, low to medium sweet, light corn, tea, hops all the way through, creamy, very light raw wheat, fresh leather, watered down bourbon, unbitter tree bark, mineral water.

Caramel nose with some fruity hops. Deep amber to brown color. Initial taste was very malty, but then came some decent hops to balance it out. Mild carbonation, full body, smooth finish. Good beer for just about any meal.

On tap at the brewery on south side of Boulder. Place is fittingly called Southern Sun. Beautiful sunny day in Boulder with a beautiful girl and an extremely hoppy and beautiful beer.

On tap at the brewpub. Yeasty cloudy amber with a giant mushrooming head. This has a delicious aroma of pine and citrus. I taste mild chocolate and oranges to the flavor. Perfect level of medium bitterness. Not over the top, but enough. Fine beer indeed.

brought a growler home after dinner, which is a 1/2 gal ball mason jar. cool, but completely disfunctional as a beer vessel. really like this beer - good hoppy/malty flavor, opaque amber color that pours with nice head. good bitter finish that leaves you looking for another big sip. mix half/half with XXX pale for a "kind crippler" which is wicked good, but will sneak up on you.
