Commercial Description:
Inspired by the classic Tripels of Belgium, Fortitude is deep golden in color, highly effervescent, and boasts a clean, dry finish. Utilizing only two malts and one hop variety, this beer showcases the complex fruit and spice flavors contributed by the yeast.

prickly white pepper nose, zesty carbonation and citrus-juice acidity are doused with an annoyingly heavy amount of juniper, anise and coriander spices, and a grocery-store white sugar granular flavor and texture only makes matters worse. both the spice and sugar level could benefit from more care, while the zesty carbonation and citrus quality should be allowed to drive this beer more. interesting but disappointing.

On tap at the brewpub during GABF 2009. Pours a hazy golden color with thin white head. Aroma is sweet and spicy with notes of honey, white grapes, wheat, grass, light candy sugar. Flavor is sweet and malty with notes of caramel, candy sugar, grain, grass, honey, light spice. Medium body with a sweet finish.

Tap at Vine Street - I found this one overly sweet, but perhaps this is because I had it right after a rather dry beer - still, this did not surprise me; this is an American-made tripel after all - a lot of phenols (bubblegum, banana, etc.) and esters from the yeast, without any counterpoint (bitterness, please) makes this a rather one-dimensional tripel - ends with some clove, and a light acidity finally emerges, but a bit too late - eh, not too bad I guess.

Tap at Vine Street Pub, Denver.
Pours a deep cheddar orange with an aroma of weak malt and slight fruity biscuit. Flavor is thin, bready malt with a cheese finish. Thick mouthfeel. Yech.

Draught from Mountain Sun. Yellow-golden hazy color with small white head. Smells of fruit, specifically pineapple, and alcohol. Yeast heavy, with flavors of fruit and spices. Hides alcohol very well.

Draft at the brewpub. Your average Belgian tripel. Good, but nothing special.

Draught. Pours hazy yellow with an average, frothy white head, mostly lasting with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (bread, hay, straw, cereal), average hop (flowers, grass, citrus), heavy yeast (pear, peach, pineapple, coriander, and pepper. Medium bodied, gritty texture, lively carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness.
