Draught at the Mountain Sun Brewpub. A light, cloudy amber India Pale Ale with a heavy hop aroma accented by pine needles. Dry hoppy finish.

This is a great IPA....a hop lovers dream. MOSUN is a very hop oriented establishment so I like most of their beers. This one is my favorite. Huge hop aroma, flavor and bitterness is what this one is all about. Slight bone colored head laces all the way down the glass. Appearance is typical of an unfiltered beer, a light cloudy amber. The rest is hops and more hops. Not sure what the ABV is on this one. I’ve heard this is thier double...if so the alcohol is hidden well.

Ernest knows me well. From a Mountain Sun "growler" (a.k.a., a 1/2-gallon Mason jar), the beer poured cloudy and rusty-orange with a fluffy, lasting head. Four Cs provided a heavy, but not overpowering, nose/aroma. Tremendously smooth, pillowy and soft mouthfeel. Earthy-sweet malt base, with notes of cookie dough, sweet milk, and white chocolate. Big bouquet of hops throughout; mainly sweet pine and chewy grass. A little citrus as well, but it was more or less in the background (orange peels, dried apricots, and unripened grape skins). Nice balance between the sweet malts and bitter hops. Alcohol was hidden well. Aftertaste lingered with over-creamed coffee and bitter flower stems. Overall, bitterness was on the tame side and very fitting. Extremely good IPA, and one of the best Mountain Sun beers I’ve ever had.

Reviewed on: 11-13-2006 Poured from a growler. I knew this was the one to fill my growler with the moment i tasted it. Very dark color, almost brown and quite hazy. The first taste is very hoppy and enjoyable. It does remind me of Deschutes Inversion but better. The drinkability on this one is pretty high but it seems a little strong. Highly recommended.

Draught. Pours orange-tan with a foamy off-whtie head and lined lacing. Fresh hop pine and citrus fragrant floral aroma, wonderful bouquet of hops in this beer. Smooth lightly acidic hop rind and pine flavor with a citrus finish. Medium bodied and smooth, clean palate.

One of my favorite Pubs anywhere....great service, grub, and brew. This IPA could be my permanent session beer...smooth, super hop fruity aroma, even better flavor...there’s nothing to complain about with this one. The lemon grass really makes a difference with this one. Boulder is too far away to get this regularly....I’ve gotta brew up a reasonable clone of this!

Orange red color. Harsh, but freaking awesome hop aroma, which hints of grapefruit, lemon, pine and resin, while the malt shows some nice fruits and caramel. Medium body with a slick, oily texture. Rich and well balanced, with a very nice sprucey, citrusy and resiny hop flavor and a toasty caramel laden malt backing. Awesome stuff.
