Serving: Draft. Appearance: Clear, kind of thin brown color with a small, foamy, off-white head. Aroma: Light nose with a bit of nuttiness, some caramel, and a little earth. Flavor: Watery with notes of caramel, nuts, and a bit of toast. Very underwhelming. Palate: Medium-high carbonation with a light, watery mouthfeel and a short finish. Overall: Watery and thin. Not recommended.

12 oz bottle from Flacoalto. My 50th state. Thanks Sebastian! Nose of caramel, black walnuts, and oatmeal. Clear medium brown with a medium beige head. Flavor is caramel, nuttiness, and a super light hint of hops.

Brown with a very thin off white head. Aroma is very nutty, light caramel, mild smoke. Taste is a bit fruity followed by a nuttiness, light caramel, some roastiness.

Bottle thanks to nuplastikk sampled on 7/26/09: Pours a transparent deep copper amber with a wispy-lacing light tan head. Aroma of toasty dark caramel malts with a touch of light fruits and graininess. Starts with lots of effervescence and average body along with light caramel and strawberry sweetness before a drier fizzy finish. Doesn’t have much nut brown character to it and could use a little more body.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of foamy with a frothy top bubbles that were quickly diminishing and left behind a transparent typically carbonated copper brown colored body and a poor lacing. The aroma was malty and toffee. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish with a acectyl aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of malt and toffee. There was something slightly off tasting in the flavor I did not care for. Not one that I would likely buy again.

Sample from 12 oz bottle. Very nutty slightly sour aroma with caramel and roast. Light brown slightly cloudy. Flavor is quite nutty with roast and chocolate and light sour astringency. Very dry. Dry nutty finish.

Wasn’t exactly packed with flavor, but I didn’t think it was as bad as the rating indicates. There was a little chocolate in there. Pretty good. Thanks to Chris for picking this one up in WV.

Bottle, thanks to alexanderj. Copper brown pour with a tiny bit of head. Aroma is bready and nutty and not fresh tasting caramel malt. Flavor is the same, sorta watery and soda-like. I don’t like brown ales, and this is no exception.
