Commercial Description:
This strong Moylan's brew is what keeps those Irish eyes a smiling. Its deep amber radiance has been described by our brewer as the most visually enticing beer. This ale's rich malty flavor, full body, invigorating aroma, and expansive finish empower it to be extremely satisfying and repeatedly enjoyed. Great Western Two Row Pale Malt, De Wolf-Cosyns' Caravienne and Munich Malts are allied to provide the 1.070 beginning specific gravity, while Fuggle and Liberty hops balance this sweetness. A classic rich and malty ale from Ireland. Unlike most "want-to-be" red ales, Moylan's red has a rich caramel character balanced with a low hop profile.

Has a strong bready, malty aroma. Beautiful copper/red color to it. Has a nice balanced malty flavor to it, I didn’t think it was all that bad.

Very nice pour of dark amber with reddish tint. Nose is bready and reminiscent of a sugar cookie. Flavor is earhty, more like a hand ful of dirt, but thankfully that subsides to a sweet maltiness. The finish is mellow and clean. If not for the dirt flavor, this would be a pretty good beer.

Drank it at the brewery on tap. Pours amber/red color with a tan head. Caramel malts with some spices.

Clear red body with a medium creamy off-white head. Sweet caramel, toastiness and light bready aroma. Sweet slightly nutty flavor, some tea-like hints. Medium body with moderate carbonation.

Medium amber, hint of orange, good decent head fades completely. Bready aroma. Full bodied bready flavor, with a hint of almond nuttiness on the finish. Balancing bitterness, but not hop flavor. Not bad.

22ozer. This came out with a nice big head, rising and staying over a bright red beer. The aroma is sweet and candied, soda-like even. It drinks with a hint of smokiness almost, riding lightly on a sweet malt base. Maybe a bit light in body, if there’s anything to critique here. An odd blend of characteristics for an "Irish Red" but drinkable enough. (#3376, 4/3/2008)

Bomber. Clear red with a small off white head. Malty nose, toffee and caramel, a bit nutty. Flavors are similar. The finish kills it for me - a medicinal, slightly metallic tang. Ugh. Improved a bit after fully warming, but nothing to write home about.

22oz bottle from BevMo O’Side. Pours a cark orange color with a crisp head that fades quick and leaves minimal lace. Smells of sweet caramelly malts and grainy, nuttiness. Tastes sweet and malty and nutty. I am finding that alot of their malty beers taste nutty to me, like peanuts or PB. Anyway, very tasty and not as nutty as some of their other brews. Medium body, with active and crispo carbonation.
