Commercial Description:
This strong Moylan's brew is what keeps those Irish eyes a smiling. Its deep amber radiance has been described by our brewer as the most visually enticing beer. This ale's rich malty flavor, full body, invigorating aroma, and expansive finish empower it to be extremely satisfying and repeatedly enjoyed. Great Western Two Row Pale Malt, De Wolf-Cosyns' Caravienne and Munich Malts are allied to provide the 1.070 beginning specific gravity, while Fuggle and Liberty hops balance this sweetness. A classic rich and malty ale from Ireland. Unlike most "want-to-be" red ales, Moylan's red has a rich caramel character balanced with a low hop profile.

I was dissapointed. Decent roasted barley taste, and it was pretty, but no real flavor seemed to come through.

Bomber poured into a pint glass. Pours a nice pumpkin flesh orange color with a thick, fluffy tan head that sticks around wonderfully. Aroma is sweet grains and a little bit of tangy hop presence. Flavor is similar, sweet and tangy with a sort of orangey note. Very smooth and easy to drink. I think this is better than the Marin Irish Red by a hair.

Draught at TJ’s: Aroma of fruit, slight strawberry, slight brown sugar, light toasted malts, and slight hops. Poured deep amber/deep orange/brown in color with a medium-sized, tan head that diminished but lasted around the edges. Lightly hazy. Lightly sparkling. Flavor is lightly sweet. Tastes of light toasted malts, slight strawberry, slight hops, slight cocoa, and a hint of resin. Medium body. Slightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Toasted malt and cocoa finish.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a large sized head of foamy finely sized tan colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a transparent strongly carbonated dark orange brown colored body. The weak aroma was Irish Red malty. The crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The mild flavor contained notes of hops and Irish red malt. A decent one that I would consider buying again.

Bottle pours a hazy brownish amber with a white head. Aroma is caramel malt, and earthy hops. Flavor is sweet malt, toast, and a bit of hop.

Pours a deep reddish amber color with a nice sized, bubbly off white head. The aroma showed sweet caramel malts, toffee, some toasted bread, and a touch of hops. The flavor follows with the sweet toffee and caramel malt flavors up front to go with some bready flavors and some light earthy hops for bitterness. Medium bodied with subtle carbonation and a sweet malty finish. My first of this style, but this wasn’t bad just not overly exciting.

Poured from bomber, medium amber with off medium off white head. Nose was roasted malt, and the taste was a mixture of caramel and malt with a touch of sweetness. Not as heavy as expected. Not too bad.

22 fl oz bottle. Pours almost clear golden amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is roasted breadish, light caramelish. Semi sweet caramelish, roasted malt and mild bitterness. Ends in a lingering mix of roasted malt and subdued bitterness. Nicely balanced.
