Commercial Description:
This strong Moylan's brew is what keeps those Irish eyes a smiling. Its deep amber radiance has been described by our brewer as the most visually enticing beer. This ale's rich malty flavor, full body, invigorating aroma, and expansive finish empower it to be extremely satisfying and repeatedly enjoyed. Great Western Two Row Pale Malt, De Wolf-Cosyns' Caravienne and Munich Malts are allied to provide the 1.070 beginning specific gravity, while Fuggle and Liberty hops balance this sweetness. A classic rich and malty ale from Ireland. Unlike most "want-to-be" red ales, Moylan's red has a rich caramel character balanced with a low hop profile.

Bottled. A hazy orange-red beer with an orange head. The aroma is very light with notes of fruit and an even slighter acidic note of grapefruit. The flavor is slightly acidic malty with primary notes of grapefruit and berries, leading to a bitter finish.

(Bottle 65 cl) Hazy, amber golden with a small, off-white head. Lightly tart, caramelish nose. Medium body, some caramel and some odd bonbon-like notes. Has a vague, underlying acidity. The finish is dry. I reckon this is slightly infected. 160607

22 fl oz bottle. Pours almost clear golden amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is roasted breadish, light caramelish. Semi sweet caramelish, roasted malt and mild bitterness. Ends in a lingering mix of roasted malt and subdued bitterness. Nicely balanced.

(22oz bottle) Medium off-white head that mostly dissipates atop cloudy copper body. Aroma is moderately sweet, caramel/butterscotch, grapefruit. Taste is medium sweet, caramel, medicinal, some lemon. Seems infected (I hope it’s not supposed to taste this way). Light-medium body, light stickiness.

Bottle thanks to bhensonb: Pours a transparent dark copper amber with a thin, wispy-lacing white head. Aroma of toasty caramel malt with some grainy character and a touch of citrusy hops. Starts with average fullness and carbonation with some sweet toasty caramel and pale malts and a touch of oxidation before a drier citrusy hop finish. Pretty smooth and drinkable.

Sparkling clear, beautiful, amber/orange ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Good retention. Extremely fruity aroma... medley of fuzzy and tropical fruits. Fruitcake, caramel and toffee notes as well. The flavor is way too tart for the style. Probably infected. A shame. Medium-bodied with a dry mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Short, tart, dry finish. I will re-rate this one again some day as my bottle was obviously off.
