Commercial Description:
This strong Moylan's brew is what keeps those Irish eyes a smiling. Its deep amber radiance has been described by our brewer as the most visually enticing beer. This ale's rich malty flavor, full body, invigorating aroma, and expansive finish empower it to be extremely satisfying and repeatedly enjoyed. Great Western Two Row Pale Malt, De Wolf-Cosyns' Caravienne and Munich Malts are allied to provide the 1.070 beginning specific gravity, while Fuggle and Liberty hops balance this sweetness. A classic rich and malty ale from Ireland. Unlike most "want-to-be" red ales, Moylan's red has a rich caramel character balanced with a low hop profile.

Bottle courtesy of thirdeye11. Light orange pour. Smells of roasted red malts that have an edge of hops. Taste of earthy malts with a finish of clay dry.

a balanced and nicely complex beer. lots of toasty-malt flavor that is kept in check with just enough hops to balance but not trample it. there’s a nice hint of smokiness too (from scotch/irish-yeast or a bit of smoked-malt? not sure).

good flavorful and easy-drinking beer.

Reviewed 11/6/2009 (Bottle): Pours a strong reddish color body, average foamy creamy off-white head, lasting. Very malty aroma. Strong grain, nuttiness. Enticing. Malty Irish tasting, very light nutty taste. Very "Irish Ale" tasting. Good and malty.

Thanks Hayduke! My bottle says "Paddy’s" but it is the same beer. Appearance is cloudy light brown with a small tan head. Aroma and taste is very much fruit with a bit of caramel thrown in. Is this really a fruit beer? There was way too much sweet fruit flavor in here. Thin feel with no effervescence at all. As an Irish Ale this comes up short. Still, it was a pleasant and very easy to drink beer.

This won awards? No f’ing way. Compared to other Moylans this is lacking flavor and not near to their standards. Weak palate to boot. One and done.

Bottle thanks to thirdeye11. The look is clear, dark copper in color, and has a white head. The smell is caramel, sweet, and malts. The taste is malts, caramel, and sweet.

Bottle.
Pours a deep, rich amber with a 1-finger high head of off-white foam. Nice, rich aroma of roasted nuts and toasted malt with a hint of strawberry preserves in the background. Flavor falls a bit short of the nice aroma, with whispy bits of toasted malt, sweet vinegar nuts, faint caramel, and flat strawberry preserves. Average mouthfeel. Eh, nothing special but not bad.
