Mar 3, 2009 Draught, Boulder Strong Ale Festival. Burgundy color. No head. Nose is strongly malty and hints of caramel, toffee, toast and maple, but lacks other components and depth. Flavor is fruity, richly malty, raisiny, a tad husky, overly sweet. A decent example of Scotch Ale.

Mar 2, 2009 On tap @ AZ Strong Beer Festival. Dark copper pour with a small dirty cream head. This one exhibits burnt caramel, brown sugar, molasses and pure honey. Quite sweet but not at all cloying. Alcohol isn’t very noticeable @ 10.7% (although this was a STRONG BEER festival it it was toward the end of the day). A little sticky and syrupy but enjoyable.

Mar 2, 2009 On tap at Boulder Strong Ale Fest poured a hazy amber with a small diminishing amber head. Aromas of carmel, light fruitiness, light honey and a hint of spice. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel, light fruittiness, light honey and a hint of spice with a smooth carmely finish.

Mar 1, 2009 Crushed with Jakebra at BSAF. Dammit. What’s going on here? Did Dirty Bastard ruin my scotch ale palate? Even a double kiltlifter doesn’t do anything for me. Disappointed.

Mar 1, 2009 On tap at the AZ Strong Beer fest. Pours a clear dark amber with a beige head. The nose is sweet caramel malt, peat and booze. The taste is toffee, caramel, peat, brown sugar and light booze. Medium bodied, Decent.

Feb 25, 2009 TAP: red/amber pour, sweet molasses aroma, and a buttery sweet taste. A little booze is present, but not as much as I’d expect from a 10+% beer.

Feb 20, 2009 On tap @ the brewpub. Pours perfect clear amber with off white head. It has a fairly pungent aroma with bold ripe cherries, prunes and figs with sugar sweet malts in the background. The taste begins with sweet malts and some brown sugar. It quickly becomes very sweet as ripe cherry and hints of molasses hit midway. As the finish approaches thick rich sweet cherries, prunes and raisins bludgeon the senses with slick sweetness that doesn’t ever let up. Still, I found the flavor very nice.
