On tap at Naked City’s Moylan’s Night. Pours dark red with a nice beige head. Vanilla, bourbon, cherry, caramel malt- flavors linger for a while. Good stuff.

Very hearty. Great follower to a light meal. A bit boozy but not intolerable. Too dark for my tastes. Stick to regular KiltLifter.

Pours opaque mahogany with a thin cream colored head. Nose and flavor is smooth malt and brandy with a nice woody finish and some burn. Warming influence and a smooth mouthfeel.

Tap @ Toronado San Diego. Poured a darker copper with a bit of haze. A one-finger tall, thick, creamy off-white/tan head. Moderate lacing. A lovely caramel and toffee nose, molasses with a hint of smoke, and a slight earthy smoke without ranging into peat. Hearty taste follows the nose. Delicious butterscotch and caramel malt monster that stays with you for the duration. Sweet and boozy without cloying or becoming a liquer. Good alcohol warmth with no phenol taste. Some earthiness in the form of roasty and nutty notes. A cookie-dough taste pops up as the beer warms, along with a very slight peat. Viscous mouthfeel with lower carbonation; coats without being sticky, enhancing a long finish. Easily drinkable, especially given the ABV.

Draught at TJ’s: Aroma of toasted caramel, malts, slight dark ripe fruit, slight raisin, candi sugar, and slight scotch. Poured dark brown/ruby in color with a tiny, tan head that disappeared quickly, except that it lasted around the edges. Opaque. Not sparkling. Complex flavor is medium to heavily sweet. Tastes of malts, toasted caramel, light toffee, slight yeast, slight raisin, slight tobacco, slight oak, candi sugar, and hints of vanilla and scotch. Medium body. Lightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Toasted caramel, malt, and slight oak finish is lightly dry. 10.7%ABV is completely hidden throughout.

cask at DotLA III. i think this made my top 3 vote. maybe #2. "looks good. thick mustard head. super caramel nut aroma. flavor is a letdown. too sweet. awesome aroma though." i liked it more as the festival went on and i realized how much most of the other stuff tasted the same thanks to the cask style.

The was a barrel aged version from the brewpub titled Double Kiltsickle on the menu but I assume that was a misprint. It came a dark brown with a small creamy head and light lacing. Nose of roasted malts with some grains and fruits. Rich and smooth mouthfeel. Favor is of ripe fruit and nuts. Very smooth and clean finish. Quite enjoyable.

(Draft at Moylan’s Brewery). No aroma to speak of. No head to speak of. Instant warming in the face after first couple of sips. Slight alcohol flavor on the back end. Low carbonation. Shades of vanilla in flavor. Definately strays from what is typically expected of a scotch ale.
