Roasty malty aroma, with a bit of nut. Flavour is sweetish malt, with chocolate, coffee and nut. Body is light, but pleasing. Thin sweet malt finish. Good with food. fidelis83 (729), Clinton, Iowa, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 3, 2009 Bomber. Pours black with brown highlghtts and a tall creamy head that hangs on a long time and leave some weak lacing. Aroma is lots of roast, a little chocolate, lots of heavily roasted nut notes-heavy on hazelnut, a touch of espresso and just the tiniest bit of burnt sugar. Flavor is nice and sweet roasty malt up front, dark chocolate, more roasted nuts, fresh walnuts, faint char notes, and a little earthy wood. Finish is roast, some char, bitter dark chocolate and light roast coffee. Body is medium to thin with a nice smooth, creamy texture and a really nice carbonation level. A pretty good sessionable beer, maybe a bit on the sweet side for the style, but I won’t complain. JohnC (2286), Mission Viejo, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 30, 2009 I had this on draft at the brewpub. It was served on nitro.
The mouthfeel was creamy, the nose was roasty, the flavor was a bit roasty, but a tad thin. talon1117 (628), Bellvue, Colorado, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 28, 2009 Pour is a dark brown with an average, creamy, tan head which is mostly lasting and leaves a couple lace rings. Nose is pleasant with moderately roasted milk chocolate notes dominating, light roasted grains, mild earthy coffee roast, and faint vanilla. Flavor is dryer than expected with lots of roasted grains, moderately roasted coffee with matching acidity, faint roasted hazelnuts, and hints at vanilla and cocoa. Palate is fair with a light to medium body, lively carbonation, and dry/creamy/watery texture. Finishes abruptly with cofee notes, acidity, and dry roasted grains. A solid dry stout with all the right flavors present but nothing too special. A nice balance of roasted notes bringing only enough bitterness. Nice example of the style. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 27, 2009 Picked up a single 22-oz bomber at Cellars Wine & Spirits in St Paul. Pours a near opaque dark brown brew with a thin beige head that slowly dissipates an off-white ring. Aroma of toasted dark malt, some coffee and chocolate, a hint of flowery hops and light vanilla. Taste is medium bodied, toasted dark malt flavors with some chocolate dry herbs, and some flowery hops. Finish is semi-dry with a light toasted dark malt and vanilla aftertaste that slowly disappears. Rastacouere (5564), Montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 25, 2009 I don’t necessarily expect much from a Moylans which is not an IPA, so the aroma was a pleasant surprise. It just smells very good, perfectly integrated malt-focused ale. A tan, small, but lacy head covers the ebony pour. Tight, tasty, roasty mouth presence which avoids the frequent vegetal undertones stouts can have. No abusive sweetness, this one honours its name: grainy, well-roasted and very clean, chocolatey more than fruity. Light-medium bodied, comfortable carbonation is soft. All in all a demonstration of Moylans versatility.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 14, 2009 Dark chestnut brown. Aroma of coffee, bitter chocolate, and rich burnt malt. Coffee, bitter chocolate, ashy and vegetal notes all play over the palate. Finish is very dry and moderately bitter. Delicious!
