Aromas of bitter cocoa. Full nectar w/ mellow effers creating an oily texture. Nice and smoooth! A moderate roast component balanced by dark unsweetened chocolate. This is one fantastic dry stout. Flavors of coffee, leather, and a pinch of molases w/ some aspirin bittering on the long finish. Beautiful! dsagoas (9), , Washington, USA does not count | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Dec 13, 2008 Deep roasty aroma. Pitch black, with red around the edges. Thin head. Flavor matches the aroma. Roasty more then chocolaty. Beautiful example of what a dry stout should be on the palate. No lingering sweetness, crisp and refreshing despite being a dark flavorful beer. drpimento (832), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 28, 2009 Burnt to a crisp. That is how to best describe this brew, which I had last night from the cask at Rattle n Hum. Nose of burnt wood, expresso coffee, dark chocolate. Flavors reinforce the aroma, lots of dry roastiness and dark maltiness. Notes of coffee. Smooth and rich. If you like this style (which I do), you should really like this example. How: Bottle 22oz, tasting session with Montreal crew
The look: Black body with a small tan head
In long: Strong and pleasant roasted nose. Taste has pretty much all one can hope from a stout, roastiness, coffee beans, chocolate and a sweet fruity flavour that reminded me of date or date cookies. So far so good and the finish doesn’t let down either ending with a tasty medium bitterness blending in very well with the roastiness. A very big body for a 5% beer. This is clearly on of the best session stout I’ve had. I really liked that Dry Irish, much better than the last one, a drunk Dubliner who wouldn’t give me the time of day. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA

22 oz. bottle, no freshness date, a blurb on the upper right side of the label and the ABV for Dragoons is listed as 5% in the bottom left center, sampled in a imperial pint glass.
L: Dark chocolate brown with a fluffy tan head that slowly settled into a creamy skim. Splotchy rings of lace circles the brim of the glass, Dragoons is a traditional and appealing looking Dry Irish Stout.
S: Charcoal, charred grains and mildly roasted coffee with some light fruity esters at the edges. Further whiffs reveal hints of milk chocolate and lemon zest. There are also traces of a herbal licorice. A pretty impressive nose for an Dry Irish Stout, easy to believe that Dragoons is a multi-award winner.
F&T: This has a nice airy, creamy feel in the mouth, properly light bodied, an amazing smooth drinkability, I am having to restrain myself from gulping this down. Good roasted malt flavor, barley grains, nutty coffee, chocolate licorice and a touch of sweetly dark fruits. Towards the end a delicate lemony, spicy hoppiness emerges, helping to give Dragoons a neatly dry finish.
Another well crafted, quality beer from Moylan’s, Dragoons Dry Irish Stout fulfills all the style requirements and then some, recommended for anyone loves Beamish or Murphy’s, a must try. scrizzz (1287), kirkland, Washington, USA

Great dry character, complimented excellently with the creamy sweet head. Had to give it a 5 for palate. I mean, what else do you want in a dry stout? Wonderful beer. doubleo (1104), San Diego, California, USA

Pours medium thick looking, very dark brown/black with a creamy brown head. Good retention. Smells dark and roasty, like unsweetened coffee. Tastes almost smokey. Malty, roasty and nutty. Very flavorful but not too sweet or thick. Light body for a stout. active carbonation.
