thewolf (5621), Kolding, Denmark Jun 17, 2009 Bottle, bought @ Vinens Verden, Odense.
Pours clear orange amber. Fine, staying, creamy, off-white head. Aroma has lots of grapefruit, some lemons, little pine, apricot and plant sap. Medium carbonation, stunning dry mouthfeel. Flvavour is heavily puckery bitter. Lemons, grapefruit, pine, apricot. Extremely hoppy and bitter, but still maintains a very pleasant drinking experience. changeup45 (782), Orlando, Florida, USA Jun 16, 2009 Bottle from Julio’s. Pours an amber-orange color with a thin off-white head. Big grapefruit hop aroma invades my senses right away with some pine resin and tropical fruit picked up as well. Flavor shows a lot more pine than the aroma indicates but also packs a big citrusy punch with grapefruit, mango, pineapple with perhaps a note of lemon. A puckery bitter finish which works well with a sweet malt profile underneath the hops assault. An excellent beer! GJF (480), Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA Jun 15, 2009 Bottle at 33 wine bar in St. Louis. It’s really a unique beer. An incredible dose of hops to this yet it maintains an almost velvety smoothness to it. The hops are nicely balanced with a strong malt background, hints of dark fruit to it and a nicely warming alcohol touch at the end. Well done. can8ianben (903), Pasadena, California, USA Jun 11, 2009 Aroma is like a dried citrus scent with some pine as well. Appearance is a slightly cloudy amber/orange with a thick frothy white head that diminishes quickly. Flavor is lovely - not overtly sweet, but a good hoppy spice to balance out a smooth malt. Mouthfeel is creamy and very dry and bitter on the finish. A very nice IIPA. Lovely stuff here. darkguardian (506), Florida, USA Jun 10, 2009 22oz bottle. This beer is fucking brutal. This is the hoppiest beer I’ve ever had. In fact it was a little unpleasant to drink for me. That said its an AMAZING DIPA. Pours a golden orange, slightly hazy with a thin white head. HUge pink grapefruit nose but with a but with a slightly off putting floral note. Couldn’t place it. Interesting hop choices here. Never tasted Tomahawk before. Flavor is super spicy up front almost painfully so. Resinous pine notes in the middle with bitter citrus skins in the finish. Lingering bitterness is massive and does not go away. Impressively crafted but not really my thing. Probably one of the best DIPA’s I’ve had. I find Pliny the Elder much more pleasant to drink though. KnN (712), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA Jun 10, 2009 Pours a nice golden orange color with a thin white head. Aroma is massive grapefruit with a hint of pine and some resinous oily qualities. Flavor is citrus and pine realy nice n the front end, but kind of murders the back of your tongue. A little harsh, but a good DIPA. ilherps (212), Carbondale, Illinois, USA Jun 9, 2009 Pours dusty amber with a nice white, slightly cascading foam. The aroma is of spruce, grapefruit, and tangerine, with another floral note present. The flavor is similar, citrus and pine coming through. Overall a very nice IPA Barrios (852), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Jun 8, 2009 Pours a lacing beige head with a deep gold-orange body. Smells of pine and pineapple. Tastes the same. Some heat from hops and alcohol. Finish is bitter.
