mcc5468 (102), USA May 30, 2009 Pours a cloudy orange color. Thick head that stays. Aroma is citrus and grass. Taste - hops, you betcha. Good and good. Alcohol is hidden very nicely. Just a good hoppy beer. Could get in serious trouble with this one. Great drink. SSSteve (2042), Atlanta, Georgia, USA May 29, 2009 slightly hazy orange with a small creamy off-white head. tangerine, mandarin orange, sweet aroma. green fresh juicy resiny hops flavor of citrus fruits from the aroma. pretty smooth palate. good sweet bitter balance. i don’t notice alcohol but i did just polish off the imperial stout. overall its a great beer but nothing really jumps out and makes it unique from some other IIPA’s(including moylander), except a good smooth creamy palate...which IS half the battle in this style catagory imo. snakeoilpete (324), Seattle, Washington, USA May 29, 2009 Wet Hopsickle on tap at Naked City’s Moylan’s Night. Pours cloudy copper/amber with a small off-white head. Tons of citrus and floral hops and a little brown sugar/caramel/fruity sweetness. But mostly hops. sigma23 (217), , Maine, USA May 28, 2009 ok so i think a few hops fell out of the bottle when i poured this one! aroma is TONS and tons of hops mostly bitter pine and floral notes with a bit of citrus coming through and a lot of sweetness. drinks super thick with alcohol previlant. flavor is crazy thick bitter/sweet hops and some citrus in the middle. finishes harsh and bitter. this one was good, but too much for my palate at this point in time. MeisterBrew (138), Cheyenne, Wyoming, USA May 28, 2009 Bottle. Pours a very hazy orange. Nice foamy head with great lacing. Aroma of sweet ruby red grapefruit juice. As it warmed the aroma became more of a floral hop scent. Flavor was of very strong grapefruit juice with a nice lasting bitter finish. As it warmed the alcohol really started to show. Very good IIPA, but not worth $10 +. ChainGangGuy (2522), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA May 25, 2009 Served up at the recent Moylan’s release at the Brick Store Pub in Decatur, Georgia.
Appearance: Dark amber body showing nice clarity and layered with a wispy, off-white head.
Smell: Pleasingly fragrant, slightly sweet-scented hop aroma conveys large, deep notes of pine, citrus fruit, and flowers. Distant, lesser notes of malt as well.
Taste: Pale malts with a supposed crystal malt sweetness deliver an impression of caramel candy. A sharp, aggressive taste of pine resin, lemon wedges, and white grapefruit bears down on the tongue and unleashes a substantial amount of hop bitterness. The latter half is marked by a now continuous stream of hop bitterness, more caustic pith qualities, and some warming alcohol heat. Some hints of orange blossom develop late. Finishes expectantly dry with a long, bristling bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Medium-full body. Medium carbonation. Lusciously smooth, downright creamy mouthfeel.
Drinkability: A pungent, intense brew, but a good one. If you’re in the market for a mouth crammed full of hops then give this beer a try.
