jbrus (4834), Delft, Netherlands May 15, 2009 Bottle@Home. Sweet grapefruit aroma. Cloudy, amber colour, beige head, good lace. Sweet, bitter, grapefruit, bready. Full, almost syrupy. Powerful stuff but just no it. ben4321 (946), Rockville, Maryland, USA May 13, 2009 Location:On tap at Capital Ale House, Innsbrook, 5/7/09
Aroma: Mostly pine and citrus, some sweet malt smells in there as well
Appearance: Dark and hazy orange color, thick creamy white head
Flavor: Huge pine hops, there is some malt backing here, but the hops are the huge power
Palate: Great mouthfeel, big bodied
Overall Impression:
I really liked this one a lot, a strong and powerful, great tasting DIPA. Definitely a beer I enjoyed and would love to drink again. Had this just before the Moylander, and really liked them both. cmonster (73), Portland, Oregon, USA May 13, 2009 Bomber poured into a tulip. Orange copper in color. Medium-sized off-white head. Huge hop nose. Sweet citrus and pine notes galore. Creamy, thick, and sticky mouthfeel. The flavor is bitter and drying from start to finish. Pucker up is right. elihapa (1028), Honolulu, California, USA May 10, 2009 Bomber, shared with Derek. Pours clear gold with a medium-sized white head. Features a pungent aroma of hops, most noticeably lemon, tangerine, ruby grapefruit citrus, and floral hops. Flavor starts citrusy yet mellow, then moves towards a strong hop presence backed in bitterness. Finish is lingering bitter hops, some toasted qualities -- utterly delicious AND over the top. What I love about this beer is that Moylan is unabashed about amping up their IPA to a “triple” hopped level, and this beer shows it through its hop bouquet and bitter, lasting finish. Not for the faint hearted, but delicious for hop heads. tokyogoat (505), San Diego, California, USA May 7, 2009 I was expecting this to be a very aggressive DIPA with a punch of hops. I found for it too be too thick, under-carbonated, and too malty. The hops seemed to get lost in the thick malt feel.
I think I got an old bottle :( petematte46 (212), Dallas, Texas, USA May 6, 2009 Hop Bomb. Pours a rich translucent amber. Aroma of malts with tons of floral/piney hops. Flavor has the characteristic grapefruit-like bitter edge. satan165 (539), River Grove, Illinois, USA May 4, 2009 aroma of strong sticky malt, very fresh and very prounounced. hops nearly take a back seat when it comes to the nose. appearance is a star, burnished ruby. flavor is of strong alcholic malt. quite bitter but hop character seems muddled with the mixed bag of strains used in this beer. almost an instance of trying a bit too hard as far as im concerned, the moylander is more well put together then this brew. BVery (444), Burnsville, Minnesota, USA May 3, 2009 Updated: Jun 1, 2009TAP: clear orange pour, moderate foamy head. Huge pine hop nose - sweet, pine and citrus hops. Taste is citrus, plenty of malt backbone to balance, but this thing is so huge on hops that by the end of the first glass I’m getting overwhelmed. Flavor is lacking something - not much depth. Very good beer, but maybe a bit much for my taste.
