aplusbreaks (330), , Colorado, USA Jan 31, 2009 22oz bottle. Pours an orange amber with a moderately sized off white head. Good retention and lacing. Aromas of pine, flowers, resin, and some malt. Flavors are the same with some astringency shinning through on the finish. Nice IIPA, but definitely not worth the new $10.99 sticker. Coltrane (108), South Carolina, USA Jan 29, 2009 Pure hops. Astoundingly bitter and equally delicious. I split the bomber, but id be surprised if I could drink an entire bottle.
You need to LOVE hops to even tolerate this beer, Luckily, I love hops. hwasone (2), , California, USA does not count Jan 21, 2009 22oz bottle, $10 at whole foods. The aroma of those columbus (er, tomahawk) hops hits hard right away mixed with caramel. Pours a clear amber with an orange tint. Up front the flavor is citrus and piny hop and a little malty sweetness that quickly fades to bitterness. And I mean bitterness. Alcohol is completely hidden by hop. Medium body, fully carbonated. Very enjoyable... This is one for sipping and sharing.
On a side note...anyone else notice that "Ahtanum" was spelled "Anthanum" and there was at least one sighting of "Imerial" instead of "Imperial"? Proofread, Brendan. Otherwise a great brew. lebshiff21 (85), Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 19, 2009 On tap at Capones. Holy fruity hops batman! Really thick, creamy on the palate. Fruity and fresh in the nose. Pours hazy amber with thick white head. Awesome take on an Imperial IPA. lemasney (398), Trenton, New Jersey, USA Jan 17, 2009 Style and Glass: DIPA, Tulip

Purchased at: The Six Pack Store, Roosevelt Blvd., Phila, PA for $12.00 (Thanks, Joe! First visit, but not the last!)
Aroma: A hop head’s delight. It’s deliriously, deliciously hoppy. A flowery, almost burning hop aroma. I love it.
Visuals: The packaging from Moylan’s is usually very advertising heavy, but well designed and attractive, if a little over the top. The orange pour leaves a hazy orange sunlight body, with an off-white creamy head with a lot of lace that’s sticky and fresh. This seems like the ultimate in DIPA beauty. Very well done visually.
Taste: Not very balanced. This is really all about hops, and while there is a slightly malty finish, it is very crisp, bitter, and ultra hoppy. I love it, but I imagine a differently organized palate might find it off-putting. Love hops? Find this brew!
Palate: The finish is long lasting, delicious, and dark. It’s creamy at the start, crisp in the middle, and sticky in the end. It’s a great tactile experience.
Overall: I absolutely love this brew. I’ll be looking for other Moylan’s brews, but this I’m specifically going to find this again. For hop heads, this seems like a destination beerage. moelikebeer (219), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Jan 15, 2009 Bottle. Clear, golden pour with minimal head. Sweet malty aroma with a light hop presence. Flavor is a different story. Potent hops from start to finish; starts out fairly sweet and citrusy grapefruit, then finishes very bitter and piney. Bitterness lingers on the tongue for minutes. Some sweet maltiness, but it’s overpowered by the over-the-top hops, leaving the beer somewhat one-dimensional. That said, it’s still a very nice beer! DSG (1501), Tel Aviv, Israel Jan 11, 2009 (10/28/08) Bottle drank at my hostel in San Francisco. Slightly hazy amber color with a big white bubbly head. Powerful aroma of malt, cookies, caramel, resinous hops and some pine needles. Sweet and malty flavor in the beginning with caramel and biscuity notes. Continues hoppy and very bitter with pine and some earthy notes. Medium to full-bodied. Quite oily in texture. Glouglouburp (2778), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jan 9, 2009 In short: A big-body heavy IIPA well balanced by a lot of fruity and resinous hops. Very good.
How: Bottle 22oz, drank relatively fresh a month or two after purchase
The look: Cloudy dark-orange topped by a medium off-white head with average retention
In long: Big nose of fruits and strong caramel. This is no a bottle of refreshing hop-juice refreshing. A ton of sweet caramelized malts, taste of sweet crusty sugar pie. This one has a big, very big body. Very sweet but thankfully also comes with a ton of hops and the end-result is rather well balanced. Hops bring fruity notes to lighten the beer but also have a strong resinous character. The body is big and heavy that this beer could almost pass as a ultra-hoppy barley wine. Not the most refreshing IIPA around but certainly a very nourishing one. Very tasty. Funny how a word like Hopsickle can conjure a totally different but equally enticing image to a child and a mature beer-geek. Just like the word pussy.
