BillKismet (1894), Seattle, Washington, USA Dec 26, 2008 Bronze amber with a fluffed, hopped head. This indeed packs a savory blast of hops to clear out the sinuses. Cascades, Columbus, and Chinook are readily apparent. An almost perfect symphony of hop notes from floral to sweet, to fruity, to honeyed, to grapefruit to orange citrus and with a sliver of pine. Sweet and hoppy body with considerable bitterness. For as good as the aroma and flavors are, it is rather unbalanced, overly sweet and resinous, and the alcohol pushes it over the edge. This will knock your socks off. durhambeer (1186), Durham, USA Dec 25, 2008 Bottle from Sams in Durham. This beer is no joke: it is a hop bomb. Fresh, sticky, citrusy, resiny, fruity, big ol hops coming out of this bad boy. The malt can barely stand up to the hops, but that is not really the point, is it? Beautiful deep orange-golden hazy pour with whitish head. Big. Bitter. Surprisingly drinkable. Yum. Juelze (889), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Dec 23, 2008 Thanks again to my brother for picking this up! Pours a clear rich amber color with thin off white head. Aroma is of intense resinous pine, citrus rind and light biscuity malt. Full bodied, oily and sticky, this is a pretty great iPA but again, nothing like Hopslam. Petrucci914 (574), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Dec 23, 2008 Pours a crisp golden color with a medium creamy off-white head that fades slowly, and leaves some sticky lacing. Aroma is almost like a Christmas tree.......a nice pine note with a bit of citrus. Taste is a bit thick, with a decent citrus front, that follows with a medium malt backbone that is overlayed with some medium bitterness. Not too bad. Nate (2533), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 21, 2008 Updated: Jul 18, 2009From bottle courtesy of dpjuart. Great hoppy nose, with grapefruit, apricot, resin, and cat pee. Mild sweet caramel. Mellow and enjoyable. Medium heavy body with medium carbonation. Medium dark abmer clear with foamy lacing head. Starts and stays hoppy, bitter throughout. Sweet undertones but really just hop juice! Wonderfully bitter and strong. Nice beer with bitter, bitter after.
On tap at Six & Save, New Ken. The aroma is like opening up a bag of fresh hops. Fresh, juicy, resinous, citrus. There is hardly any malt character. Hazy orange-amber with thin white head. Medium-heavy body with medium carbonation. Starts with good malt sweetness, light meaty taste followed by a tone of hops. Citrus, pine, resin - this is a huge hophead beer. There are flavors here I’ve never experienced in other IPAs. Amazing. Huge bitter finish and after. agl108 (503), Manayunk, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 20, 2008 22 oz. bomber at Flat Rock Saloon. Poured hazy orange with thin white head. Citrus nose. Malty with tongue stripping resiny bitterness. Bigtime hop bomb. malrubius (967), Valley Stream, New York, USA Dec 19, 2008 22 ounce split in pint glass. Hazy orange-copper with lasting head and lace. Strong citrus orange bready aroma. Honey orange zesty fruitiness with bracing bitterness and lingering piney citrusy hop flavor. Medium full creamy body and medium carbo. Absolutely complex, assertive, and delicious. And I think I am warming to the DIPA style dpjuart (670), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 19, 2008 Bomber shared at Xmas gathering. Pours orange with eggshell head. Nose of cat piss, with lots of floral, grapefruit and peach notes and mild pine. Taste is resiny pine hips with some grapefruit, dry and bitter as all get out. Great IIPA. Definitely a repeater.
