MakeItDrinkIt (66), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 14, 2008 This Imperial (Double) India Pale Ale is a deep golden color with a medium to thin fluffy off-white head. The aroma is rich on the hops - piney and grassy, with some malty sweetness. Flavvor is big resinous hops in the front and good maltiness in the back, but well hidden by the big flavor and big bitter from the abundant hops. Funknmilla (577), Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 12, 2008 Bomber from trade....thanks Mashmaster..:)....Its a gorgeous copper color with red highlights, and beige foam....Aroma---sweet malty and a pungent floral hop scent....just a wonderful balance of the 2...this is the scent I enjoy, a typical IPA aroma, but amped...a perfect nasal balance.....on to the taste....bitter initially...then mellows out by the finish.....it has a very piney taste, the malts are actually blanketed here...its a hop shiner...but I can tell the malts are there doing their job of keeping the hops in their place...a stickiness left to the lips...a bitterness on the finish....a very good beer...it is exactly what a imperial IPA should be...just yum and more yum...the fresh hop flavor lingers on and on robbmotiwalla (50), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Jul 12, 2008 sweet and sticky on the palate. hops out the ass but well rounded with a creamy molasses twang. reminds me of dogfish 90 minute only better dmac (1414), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Jul 12, 2008 22 oz bomber from Capones. Pours a super hazy orange amber with a small frothy off whtie head. Hoppy aroma of citrus balanced out with a large dose of caramel and toffee notes. The aroma leads me to believe that this bottle was far from fresh though. Flavor was balanced and hid the 9.2% nicely enough but the hops were fading and the malts were really showing in this beer. Still I managed to drink the whole bomber with no problem and I would love to try one fresh to see how hoppy this one really can be. joshwilfong (769), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Jul 8, 2008 reddish brown with large white head. great hoppy nose. flavor only has a milt malt component, but does have a great complex hop aspect with a lot of bitternness and some depth to the hop flavor. the alcohol adds some depth and isn’t overly noticeable. however, the lack of malt makes the beer end up a little unbalanced. a good beer, but just beneath a top tier double ipa JorisPPattyn (5155), Antwerpen, Belgium Jul 7, 2008 Good cream-orange head over oreange-amber beer. Dry hop bales, bit of ureum; dry spicy seeds, mandarine peel. A very dry version of orange, or rather, mandarine marmalade. USA C-hops to the fore, but with an excellent malt-backing, lightly roasted. Ends on bitter-resiny. Medium bodied to well-bodied, very slick, even oily; alcoholburn. Very good double IPA - one from the specialists to the specialists. Thanks, CK! Sleeper (76), Washington, USA Jul 3, 2008 God I love hops! And this delivers! Pours hazy orange with nice thick head. Smells of very floral hops. Tastes up front with hops (not too much) and settles to a lingering of pine and alcohol. Good beer! Hophead22 (1056), Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA Jun 30, 2008 Powerfull floral aroma, very nice. Hops really give your tongue a good going over, I like that. Very nice color and laceing. Overall a very very good beer.
