Pours a super hazy orange amber with a small frothy off whtie head. Hoppy aroma of citrus balanced out with a large dose of caramel and toffee notes. The aroma leads me to believe that this bottle was far from fresh though. Flavor was balanced and hid the 9.2% nicely enough but the hops were fading and the malts were really showing in this beer. Still I managed to drink the whole bomber with no problem and I would love to try one fresh to see how hoppy this one really can be. joshwilfong (776), Cleveland, Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 8, 2008 reddish brown with large white head. great hoppy nose. flavor only has a milt malt component, but does have a great complex hop aspect with a lot of bitternness and some depth to the hop flavor. the alcohol adds some depth and isn’t overly noticeable. however, the lack of malt makes the beer end up a little unbalanced. a good beer, but just beneath a top tier double ipa JorisPPattyn (5163), Antwerpen, Belgium

Dry hop bales, bit of ureum; dry spicy seeds, mandarine peel. A very dry version of orange, or rather, mandarine marmalade. USA C-hops to the fore, but with an excellent malt-backing, lightly roasted. Ends on bitter-resiny. Medium bodied to well-bodied, very slick, even oily; alcoholburn. Very good double IPA - one from the specialists to the specialists. Thanks, CK! Sleeper (76), Washington, USA

Smells of very floral hops. Tastes up front with hops (not too much) and settles to a lingering of pine and alcohol. Good beer! Hophead22 (1085), Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jun 26, 2008 Nice ruby/brown pour, nice pillowy foam leaving great retention on the glass. Looks great. Booming tough hops come off the nose, light piney, citrusy lemon/grapefruit, whisps of light spice and a distant hint of metal. Powerful and palate stomping bitterness comes off the back of this monster. Decent balance for the amount of hops, leaving its footprint on my tounge. Alcohol is present, but not overwhelming. Man this is one hoppy brew for sure. Nice. bleeng (594), Spring near Beersel, Texas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 24, 2008 Bomber. Hazy, cloudy dark gold. Hop nose is dominant with some fruity also. Tastes comes off very bitter and sharp with the hops upfront but not overwhelming. Thick, sticky body, well carbonated. Alcohol is present but not over the top for such a strong beer. Well done. carboloader (319), Houston, Texas, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 19, 2008 Thanks to friends in San Diego for this big bottle. The name says it all, and it does not disappoint. Pours textbook hazy orange with decent tan, frothy head. Aroma is pine and citrus hops -- a big bouquet, and malts. Holy moly! The hops hit you in the face, smack you upside the head, and pull your tongue in all directions. This is one of the most bitter, flavorful IPAs I’ve had to date. Scrumptious. Pretty well balanced too, hiding a lot of the alcohol. This is a big beer. Reminds me of Arrogant Bastard. Definitely one of my favorites.
