pforei (338), USA May 25, 2008 Amber with samll head that completely dissipates; leaving lacings. Pine and citrus aroma with some perfume. Sweet malt apparent upon tasting in addition to the hoppiness. Sweet. Flat. Medium bodied with somewhat oily palate. Long bitter resiny finish with a fair amount of alcohol. SQNfan (591), Wheaton, Illinois, USA May 23, 2008 This poured beautiful copper in color with a moderate off-white head that faded away. The nose was loaded with a mix of floral, herbal and citric hops. In the mouth this was powerful and concentrated that finished dry and quite bitter. There is a little malt balancing out the beginning of the midpalate but the hops really kick in on the finish. If given 6 months to let the hops fade a bit this may fall into better balance and really impress. elcaballo (101), Beverly Hills, California, USA May 21, 2008 Wow quite a hoppy beer. For a IIPA this one definetly falls on the bitter side which was very nice. However the bitterness really lingered and I found the exploration of hop flavors to be a bit heavy handed. All the typicall hop flavors are there but it is all just a little out of balance. I enjoy very bitter beers but the long lingering finish prevents this beer from being the summer refreshment i was looking for. I will re-rate this again on a cooler day because i think the weather may have really effected my enjoyment of this tomhenderson (126), Carolinas area, USA May 17, 2008 22 oz bomber. Bottle conditioned with lots of sediment. Surprisingly lighter than most IIPAs, the color is light amber with a low but persistent head throughout consumption. The aroma was light but cascade and simcoe (citrus) comes through prominently. Low malt aroma. Flavor is very nicely balanced between sweet caramel and Biscuit and/or Victory malts, and earthy hops like Chinook and Columbus. Creamy mouthfeel with some alcoholic warmth without being "hot." An incredibly well made IIPA!
Beerman6686 (1259), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA May 11, 2008 Poures a partly hazy amber color with a small off white head. Aroma of flooded with hops. Flavor is also very hoppy but sticky and sweet at the same time. This one’s bitterness lingers on for a long time. CelticBrew (676), The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA May 11, 2008 Pours from 22 oz bomber a medium semi clear amber forming a small foamy head that dissipates. Aroma of lovely hops, grapefruits, floral pine resins accentuate. Flavour a pure smooth hop bomb, grapefruit pine resins come through, with a sticky mouth feel. Malts help balance the citrusy hop bombage. The alcohol is well blended in this beer, and has more of a spicy character than burn. Overall a highly impressive beer. This beer was tasted in an Ommegang goblet. Highly recommended! bp (447), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA May 10, 2008 Bottle: pours a cloudy, light orange with a thin white head, aroma of floral hops and sweet citrus (really smells excellent), taste is very hoppy - that’s about all I taste, has a dry, bitter finish. Pretty nice DIPA but I prefer a little more balance. Definitely a hopbomb if that is what you are looking for. anders37 (4516), Malmö, Sweden May 8, 2008 Bottle, thanks to jsquire for this one.
