8th DIPA Fest, Hayward. Screamer - wow, this is hoppy. Nice bitterness, and very very aggressive. Made a change to the somewhat sweeter DIPAs here today. Somewhat hazy, with some tangerine notes to complement. I liked this, but it was a shade rough and ready, no bad thing, for it to really draw winners.

This is the first time seeing this beer. It is outstanding! One of my favorites I’ve had. The ’Triple Hoppy’ on the label definitely drew me to it. It smacks you in the nose and mouth with hops! Definitely only for hop heads!

Draft@Liar’s Club. Light yellow/orange with no head. Tangerine / hop aroma. Sweet on the tongue followed by a dry strong finish.

The color was light yellow/orange. There was a lot of floating sediment. The head was creamy, laced, and light beige. The aroma was citrisy, aged fruit, sweet malt, and lemon. The flavor was waxy/bitter, hoppy, apricot, and citris. The palate was medium-bodied. The finish was waxy.

Thanks a lot miketd. Pours a hazy orange amber with a two finger creamy orange head. The aroma is very hoppy, sweet citrus, caramel, nice bouquet. The flavor is very strong, upfront waxy bitter hops, grapefruit peel, ctirusy and spicy, definitely a malt backbone, strong alcohol. Waxy bitter palate. Brutal on the mouth

Mmmm. It’s like eating fresh pineapple while mowing the lawn. Earthy, massive slap of hop and malts. Opened bottle to a sweet smell of hawiian like fruity pineapple and piney vapors! Tastes like I’m surfin’ the big malt wave, too. This beer is a definite hula dance of tropical hops! Outstanding!! Shaka!

Bottled, consumed on 01/31/08. Pours a slightly cloudy hue of golden honey. Nice off-white head a finger thick. Massive aroma of grapefruit hops. Mouthfeel: a little thicker than water. Surprisingly malty with a buttery character, though the hops burst into the mouth immediately with a bitter piney splash and stick around forever and a day. Fairly well-balanced, considering the style. If you like hops, this is the beer for you.

So here’s the question...Next time I’m in the mood for a beer like this should I... A: Grab a Moylans Imperial IPA OR.... B: Get a three foot water pipe, an ounce of Tomahawk hops, and a few sticks of coconut incense... Whew....I don’t say this very often, but I’m glad I split this 22oz hoptacular oral chainsaw of a beer with a fellow beer bro. Poured into a large snifter so as to harness the incredible aromas of pine & floral hops. Close your eyes, and bury your nose into the glass to get close to the substantial, creamy white head of this dark orange/yellow offering. It’s not hard to imagine standing in the middle of the evergreen filled High Sierras after a light rain, a nose truly worthy of a "5/exceptional" score if there ever was one. The taste...well, a bit of sweet pale malt, umm a touch of citrus, and....oh ya, an insane (borderline obnoxious) amount of Tomahawk, Cascade, and Centennial hops, that unceremoniously rip through your taste buds, leaving you thirstier than when you started. It’s sort of like getting hit in the mouth by a moist pine cone, but in a good way. I have to say though, I’m glad to have experienced this “extreme” beer, and would (in small quantities) like to have it on occasion. If anything, I’d just like to smell it again. This beer goes well with nothing……NOTHING I say. If after a few sips, the beer you are drinking can turn an aged, four year old white Canadian Cheddar into Velveeta, you know you are dealing with some serious ale….Good luck.…Enjoy
