0o9i (326), Reno, Nevada, USA Nov 20, 2007 Bottled. It’s hazy, sparkling, honey-colored body is topped with a bone-white head of creamy texture, medium size, and diligent beer-hiding that leaves behind thick walls of lace. The aroma screams "HOPS!" (yay!) with a variety of citrus, peach, honey, flowers, and a yeasty undertone of sweet, dark bread. The mouth is medium-full with lovely, dry carbonation for a decent finish. Flavor...I can pretty much taste what I smelled: peach, honey, grapefruit, sticky and sweet, dark dough, followed by a bunch of pine, grapefruit rind, a touch of astingence (prone to happen with uber-hopped beers, but I’m going to age some of this and see if that doesn’t go away ;o). Obviously a little imbalanced towards the hops, but I do think it will mellow out nicely with a year--even 6 months--under the house so that it can learn to play well with others. =p I love wintertime! jimhilt (1662), Bow, New Hampshire, USA Nov 17, 2007 Pours a one finger off-white head that fades slowly to a thin layer leaving some lace. Clear amber color. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Nose is grapefruit/hops. Flavor has a good sweet malt that changes to a hoppy finish. Lingering bitter aftertaste. High ABV is hidden. $7.20 for a 22 oz bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, Ma. Ibrew2or3 (2714), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Nov 15, 2007 Bomber from a trade with padrefan98 that pours a clear dull orange with white head and nice lacing. The aroma seems sweet and chewy backed up by floral, pine and grapefruit hops. The hops seem to hit first in the flavor with floral then pine then grapefruit then pine again. They seem to blend together smoothly. There’s also a thick sweet maltiness that peaks out from behind the curtain of hops now and then and also grows into the finish. Delicious big hoppy brew. scraff (1920), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Nov 14, 2007 Welcome to Maryland! 22oz - Clear orange, creamy off white head. Intense blast of hop aromas swirl with notes of fresh piney earth, white grapefruit zest, and touches of tropical fruit. Warming brings out a light sweet malt undertone. Bitter hop explosion of flavor as razor sharp grapefruit, sprucey earth and pine tear away the enamel from my teeth. Only a faint sweet malt backbone plays out late, but is merely just for show. Full bodied, prickly carbonation, bitter hop juice finish. If this doesn’t cure a hop-fix, nothing will! Awesome brew... urbnhautebourg (972), Annapolis, Maryland, USA Nov 12, 2007 I actually can’t recall having a beer that was this hoppy. It’s bitter, it’s sticky, it’s sweet and it’s big. This has tons of hop complexity--all the flavors of that glorious cone, but more fruit than pine or spice. A remarkable beer. igneous1 (1374), Davenport, Iowa, USA Nov 11, 2007 clear, light amber color, head is tan. nose is strong of bitter hops, perspiration, slight alcohol, and caramel malts. flavor is quite bitter initially with the buttery and caramel malts really coming through in the finish. Bitter aftertaste is long and signifcant. This is truly one of the most bitter beers I’ve had. Wonder how many IBUs this puppy is. mgermani (862), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Nov 11, 2007 Pours a slightly cloudy amber-brown with light lacing and a delicious aroma of prosciutto & herbal notes. Lots of hops in the taste - plenty of toffee maltiness with a nutty, dry finish. Great warming aftertaste! This really hit the spot - many thanks to G for the sample! sunevdj (1754), Copenhagen OE, Denmark Nov 11, 2007 Wining & Dining Tasting. Pours a slight hazy amber. Smells hoppy. Quite bitter - lots of hops - pine, dry grape and tonic. Smooth carbonation. Alcoburn. Bitter fininsh.
