Sep 14, 2009 Very cloudy amber-brown with a finger of creamy off-white head. Lacing occurs in sheets and windowpanes, obviously I got a good bottle!
Nose of slight caramel (malt), mix of young pine and over-ripened citrus hops. Flavors are a mix of hoppy bitterness, creamy caramel malt, and alcohol at the finish. Sticky and a bit slick. Seems a little raw...good, but no match for Pliny!

Sep 14, 2009 Bruegala 2009 sampling - Pours a deep, cloudy, yellow-orange color with a very small head. Aroma has a light caramel and grainy note to it with a heavy grapefruit and pine hoppiness. Flavor is very strong in pine and citrus hops with a smooth, light caramel note to add some sweetness. Modest carbonation delivers the flavors well and allows you to feel the med/heavy beer. It has a slightly oily feel to it and the alcohol is noticeable. Overall the slightly rough hops note really works with the malt sweetness and the overly heavy pine and grapefruit are very pleasant. Good brew.

Sep 10, 2009 Good, but not the best double IPA I have had. Amber color. Heavy pine and grapefruit aroma. Lots of grapefruit hops, no surprise. Heavy biscuit malts add the balance. Ultra smooth, doesn’t taste as strong as it is. Hops are actually more subdued and balanced in this than in some other beers (hopslam or ruination). Minor alcohol taste in the finish.

Sep 9, 2009 Pours medium-orange, thin head but nice lacing. Nose is big hops, loads of caramel, not terribly complex, just massive. Nice bitter palate, huge amounts of flavor, just feels like being hit with a hop stick. I would probably have rated this higher if it hadn’t been preceded by Ruination and Pliny the Elder, but my rating stands.

Sep 9, 2009 Bottle a little too old, the aroma is decidedly lacking and sweet, but the bottle is not so off that the taste is destroyed. Tastes very mildly of pine, and citrus, with burnt sugar and/or caramel. Pours a golden yellow with a frothy white head, nice lacing in the glass.

Sep 4, 2009 Nice bonus from wavers1- THanks again! pours a clear copper orange with a decent cream colored head. leaves some decent lace. aroma is big sweet malts, nice citrusy juicy hops, pineapple, some grapefruit, caramel, a little booze, orange. not bad at all! flavor has a nice clean sweet malt backbone, a bit of booze. WHoa nelly the grapefruit is starting to kick in. and some booze. i might be fucked. nice body. overall, a big flavorful beer with a tight aroma. a little boozy at times, but not overly so. pretty good! I like it!

Sep 3, 2009 Draught at OT. Small head and pale color. Big grapefruit aroma. Typical american hop taste. The body is big if not perfect with some sweeness.
