Pours clear orange amber. Fine, staying, creamy, off-white head. Aroma has lots of grapefruit, some lemons, little pine, apricot and plant sap. Medium carbonation, stunning dry mouthfeel. Flvavour is heavily puckery bitter. Lemons, grapefruit, pine, apricot. Extremely hoppy and bitter, but still maintains a very pleasant drinking experience. bu11zeye (5621), Frisco, Texas, USA

Beautiful bouquet of grapefruit, pineapple, and pine. Chewy toasted malt body with bitter hops finish. Nicely balanced hops & malt flavor, but was anticipating more juiciness after experiencing the nose. hopdog (5611), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA

Poured a medium amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of pine, grapefruit, and caramel. Talk about a hoppy aroma (although the malt backbone was there). Tastes of pine, citrus, caramel and grapefruit. Some alcohol in the finish. For an IIPA, I would have expected more of a malt balance - don’t get me wrong though, I still really enjoyed this one. jcwattsrugger (5567), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Oct 10, 2005 Spectacular floral aromas are limey, perfumey and monstrously oily while the caramel malts can barely take it. Appearance is a dulled golden, clear and displaying a more than honest rocky white head that diminishes fully. Becomes harsh from the first sip, peachy, melony and pineapple induced astringence that contradicts the heavy sweetness. Rather flat, boring mouthfeel would fit a hard liquor as the alcohol takes a lot of place. Extremely bitter, quite astringent. Some people would love it.. Increadable aroma, everything i would want in a hoppy ale is in this aroma, some much lychee character, grapefruit, grassy and floural, wow! Nice forming head however is a bit mirky. Taste is a huge malt backbone, cara, lly out its tits, however almost balanced by a huge hop character, not too bittering not too sweet, just nice. Amazing beer i sat and drank the whole 650ml myself and was ruined afterwards. hopscotch (5525), Vero Beach, Florida, USA

Murky, amber ale with a frothy, off-white head. Great retention. The nose is a medley of pine, wood and grapefruit with barely a suggestion of menthol. The flavor delivers tons of earthy and fruity hop flavor. Lots of Columbus and Cascade evergreen and grapefruit. Decent balance due to moderate bitterness supported by a sturdy, caramelly, malt backbone. Full-bodied and chewy with lively carbonation. Finishes lightly sweet, medium bitter and bone dry. World class effort! Thanks to DarkElf for shipping the bottle my way! CaptainCougar (5522), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 12, 2006 Pours a transparent copper orange with a thick, frothy, well-lacing and long-lasting head. Aroma is bursting with fresh, green, piney, and grapefruity hops well balanced with some mild toasted caramel notes. I like these Tomahawk hops! Body starts with a nice sticky caramel sweetness smothered with a ton of flavor hops and lots of piney bitterness. Finishes bittersweet with lots of sticky hop resin. A very nice double IPA. Many thanks to wohlfs for sending this to me!
