Loads and loads of wet, sticky, oily, piny hops on the nose. There is some necessary sweet caramel to balance out the massive amount of piney hops. Pours cloudy copper with excellent sticky lacing. Full bodied with plenty of oily, sticky hops on the palate. Some tangerine, apricot and mango fruitiness as well. Some roasted caramel malts as well. Hoppy to the max. Finish is dry and bitter and maintains the large hop profile. Solid but over the edge. Stine (1380), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 14, 2007 Bronzy, thickly sedimented pour. Slick pine resins and a hint of chocolate on the nose. Late burst of urinal. Sweet, powerful tastes of black licorice and toffee lead. Only minor hints of floral-toned aerosol taint a hand soap lavender and canned peach body. Slight astringency. Becomes heavy and slow with alcohol as it warms. Plastic and maple wood finish. There’s a vague unpleasantness that fails to overpower, but whimpers belatedly. Thanks Larry! | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 16, 2008 Whoa. The smell is wonderful. It is on the next level. Grapefruity with a hint of peach. Damn that sucker is bitter. Bitter like a grapefruit is because you know how grapefruits can be bitter but you know that it is fruit and has natural sugars and stuff so it has also kind of sweet. Its got a decent malt background but not so much that it feels heavy. We have a winner here. JCapriotti (1378), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA

Outright hoppy nose. Sticks out a bit more than the "normal" double.
Very sweetly hoppy taste. Citrus, grass, caramel. Good strong California IIPA.

Bitter aftertaste is long and signifcant. This is truly one of the most bitter beers I’ve had. Wonder how many IBUs this puppy is. brewblackhole (1374), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA
