Very well carbonated (got a bit of a foamer) brings out the big hoppy aroma. Citrus and pine are what I am smelling. Flavor is slightly sweet but mostly overcome by the HUGE bitterness. This is a very big but very SMOOTH bitterness. Somehow, I don’t know how, there is just enough body, alcohol, and even malt to keep the balance in check. Sort of a creamy mouthfeel meshes nicely with the big bitterness. Also, I like the clever name. This beer is awesomely over the top. csbosox (1082), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA

Taste is huge c-hops and really much else. Thick. This is a typical unbalanced west coast IIPA, the way they should be. barleyPops (1081), Quad-Cities, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 22, 2006 thanks to Saarlander for the bomber, shared this at a recent tasting. as heemer has stated, this was an in your face "hop bomb"!!! poured a flouescent amber and carried a strong aroma of grapefruit and pine. some sweetness, just a little, would have helped this one IMO. not sure what the IBU’s are in this one, but it seemed even more bitter than Two Brothers "Hop Juice" (100 IBU ). if you’re looking for something over the top in hops, this is it. kmeves (1081), Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 4, 2008 Pours a clear gold/amber with a medium white head. Very great aroma, loads of citrus hops...mainly grapefruit. Heavy bitter flavor which is great, just a little too much after taste for my liking. Hides the 9.2% incredibly well. Very good though, a nice double IPA. desurfer (1068), Pinellas Park, Florida, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Sep 23, 2006 Hazy copper body with lots of tiny bubbles; thin, rocky beige head. Aroma is very hoppy and rich, with lots of pine and grapefruit. Flavor is a pungent hop attack right from the start. Very peppery and bitter with some apricot fruitiness. More grapefruit and citrus. Carbonation is moderate, just right. Finshes dry and sticky with loads of hoppiness lingering long after the beer is gone. Alcohol presence is about right for a 9%er. Very nicely done. elihapa (1067), Honolulu, California, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 10, 2009 Bomber, shared with Derek. Pours clear gold with a medium-sized white head. Features a pungent aroma of hops, most noticeably lemon, tangerine, ruby grapefruit citrus, and floral hops. Flavor starts citrusy yet mellow, then moves towards a strong hop presence backed in bitterness. Finish is lingering bitter hops, some toasted qualities -- utterly delicious AND over the top. What I love about this beer is that Moylan is unabashed about amping up their IPA to a “triple” hopped level, and this beer shows it through its hop bouquet and bitter, lasting finish. Not for the faint hearted, but delicious for hop heads.
