Absolutely brain-rattling. Very strong pine, and a flavo of brutally bitter hop resin and pine needles. This beer is extreme. grant (792), Colorado Springs, CO, Colorado, USA

I’ve mentally rated this higher during other times than the blind tasting, so I’m going to go with these impressions. I suspect the beer may have been a bit cold during the blind tasting, which would have quelled its killer aroma. Hazy dull brown, wan head. Aroma has a big hop presence (tangerine, light flowers), and a sizeable dollop of malt as well (chocolate, toffee, dough). Ever-so-slight whiff of diacetyl, which I like. Nutty, biscuity maltiness in flavor, fresh citrus notes carry on from aroma. High level of bitterness, yet at the same time quite smooth. Oranges figure prominently in the finish. I love this stuff. Just a beautiful beer when poured into a Stella goblet. The name leads you to believe this is going to be a real hopsickle and it stands up to the hype. That takes real balls and I respect that. This is a real tongue buckler and a great IIPA. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 28, 2006 Pours a beautiful hazy, very cloudy orange with a huge foamy rim that fades into a small ring of foam. Hops explode out of the bottle! A truly amazing nose, the eruption of resiny hop oils is truly a thing to behold. Flavor profile is ample and matches the nose, perfectly balanced. Just much lighter in body than I expected. The finish is amazing, the hop bite sits on the palate for a good thirty seconds. Wonderful!! jeffc666 (1895), Fairfax, Virginia, USA

Sparkling clear cooper-amber body topped by a frothy yummy looking off-white head. The aroma is extremely intense: grapefruit and some herbalness as well. The flavor is puckeringly full of hoppy goodness. Good malt spine that keeps things together and a good, though not over the top, amount of bitterness. The palate is soft and cleansing. All that is left behind is the essence of a crap load of hops. This is the best beer I have yet had from ths brewery. clingman71 (261), Centerville, Ohio, USA

This is a chewy hoppy resiny beautiful example of what deranged hopheads can come up with when brewing IPAs! EXCELLENT!!!!!! Odeed (1679), Bakersfield, California, USA

Pours a rich, deep amber; nice silky brew. Smells of orange and grapefruit. Flavor is grapefruit; in fact, it’s so much that the drinker may pucker his lips. Slight hints of orange peel and lemon are evident. Great mouthfeel. The beer equivalent of a Sour Bomb candy. Hop lovers, buy at least two of this beer.
