Skyview (2803), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Oct 31, 2007 Sampled from 22-oz bomber that was originally picked up at Bottleworks in Seattle, Washington. Pours a semi-clear coppery amber brew with a thick off-white head that has some good retention. Aroma of orange and grapefruit zest, some caramel malt, pine, and a touch of heavy alcohol. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonation, with flavors of light caramel malt and over the top grapefruit juice, orange zest, and bitterness to curl your tongue. Finish is sweet at first and then a long lingering piney bitterness. A real West Coast Imperial IPA.
grimreeser (678), Minnesota, USA Aug 29, 2008 Pours a clear amber with a nice sized head with some lacing. Aroma is pine and floral hops. Strong bitterness. EricE (225), Beltsville, Maryland, USA Aug 27, 2008 Clear amber-orange pour with a thick fluffy white head. Lots of floral piny hops. Citrus and grapefruit notes. Very bitter leafy flavor. Just a little of fruitiness to it. And touch of sweetness. Some malt in there as well. The bitterness is strong and lingers. Not my personal favorite, but pretty good. tennisjoel (725), Shakopee, Minnesota, USA Aug 26, 2008 NIce to have Moylans recently enter MN. I jumped all over buying this when as soon as I saw it. Aroma is reminicent of DFH 90 Minute (one of my favorite IIPA’s). Citrusy hops abound. Mango, orange, pine, and some earthy hops. Flavor is very nice. Finishes a little harsher than 90 minute, as this is a beer for the serious hopheads. I still find this very enjoyable, the harsh finish is not a turn off, moreso makes it a little challenging, but in a good way, if that makes any sense. Well done! Good stuff indeed. BlackForestCO (501), Fort Collins and Black Forest, Colorado, USA Aug 26, 2008 Bottle. Poured a clear golden color with a light orange tint and a thick, pillowy off-white head that left nice lacing. Aroma consists of sweet oranges, grapefruit, tangerine, light lemon, a hint of resiny pine, and a soft caramel malt peaking through. Thick, lightly sweet entry with some undertones of soft orange, tangerine, and mango transitions into a resiny, piny explosion with a moderate bitter astringency that ands a bit of a metallic taste and tends to take away from the natural hop flavor and bitterness. Beneath this astrigency there is actually a soothing caramel maltiness that comes out, but it is overshadowed and lost quickly. Perhaps this beer can only be truly enjoyed on tap at the brewery. A bit of a bummer, maybe I will try it once more to see if these characteristics are consistent. EHopper (118), Minnesota, USA Aug 22, 2008 Tried on vacation in CA. Great clear amber orange color. Bright citrus aroma. Pervasive bitter "aftertaste" that starts before you even have a chance to taste this beer, than continues long, long after your last sip. The only flavor I got was sour grapefruit, pine, and metal. The bitter was was so heavy throughout I might buy again as a oddity.
