Commercial Description:
Our version of the IPA beer style possesses a deep golden hue, rich malty flavor, a bold, complex, and enduring hop finish and is extremely full bodied. We dry hop this brew and use a combination of Fuggles and Chinook hop varieties resulting in an extremely enticing floral and spicy aroma as well as hop character. Great Western Two Row Pale Malt, De Wolf-Cosyns' Caravienne and Munich Malts are combined to achieve an initial specific gravity approaching 1.065.

A very balanced aroma--just as much caramel as sweet grass. Great solid hoppy sting lightly balanced with malt. Based on the description, I was afraid it’d be too malty for my taste. Underrated I think.

Sample @ Wine Gallery, Boston, MA, September 2006. Pours a hazy amber color with a persistent, lacy, off-white head. Aroma is citrus, hop, and spice. Taste is bitter all the way through, as the hops are prominent, and there is a slight citrus/herb flavor toward the end. Solid IPA, though nothing special.

22 oz. bottle. Hazy amber under a large, creamy off white head that persisits to the bottom of the glass and leaves a sticky lace. Fresh spicy hop aroma with some lemon as well as some type of herbaceous aroma that I can’t quite place. Risnous, medium body with a healthy, but not overpowering carbonation. Starts off pretty bitter, and finishes that way as well, with a grapefruit zest character, yet there is some underpinning coming from a light malty sweetness that is there throughout. A fairly bitter IPA, but to my liking.

Very nice murky golden color. Pleasant pine and slight citrus aromas. Smooth and bitter on the palate. Good flavors of hops with a pretty clean taste with some low key malt. Nice finish and a decent IPA.

Brew pours a golden amber color w/ a full, semi creamy froth. Hangtime is forever receding to a full blanket of sticky lacing. Aroma of hot house hops (indicitive of full blown hops). Full nectar w/ creamy residual effers. This brew is balance right off the bat. Hops and malts meet halfway and marry in a most beautiful union. The finish is lingering w/ a superb citrus rind bittering. Well balanced and very drinkable.

Rated 11/12/06: Borderline average IPA, I was not overly impressed. Bitter aroma with some grapefruit present. Nice dark orange pour, solid white head and lots of lacing. Mouthfeel is sticky, watery, and awkward. Finish is thin and bitter. Flavor has a nice grapefruit citrus presence mixed in with some spicy pine, but then halfway through the swallow there is a weird metallic tinge. Far better IPA’s can be obtained and for the same price I can get a bomber of Stone so I will not seek this one out again.

Bottle: I think this is underrated. Has a beautiful appearance. Hazy rusty orange in color, cloudy with a massive frothy of-white head. Zesty & fruity bouquet of orange-peel, pineapple, & perfumy peach. Nice velvety body with smooth carbonation. Lots of dry hoppyness. Peppery-orange-rind with an herbal character and a huge grainy malt background to balance. Long, resiny/flowery dry finish. A big IPA.

Floral hop aroma, amber color, big frothy head. Medium malt body gives way quickly to a sharp tight bitter. High resolution hop flavor. Nice one.
