The aroma is nice and citrusy-hoppy but there is almost no malt to balance it. Not particularly bitter but the color is spot-on. IrishBoy (2713), Bakersfield, California, USA

Underrated IPA! jbird (1), USA does not count | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 27, 2006 pours a nice cloudy amber color, nice cream color head. citrus aroma that is mild. has a good flavor strong at first them fades as it goes down. good ipa, could use more balance. overall not a bad ipa but does not have the overall start to finish. Pours a murky and slightly unattractive shade of yellow brown with a whipped egg-white head. The aroma is a huge (but inviting) resinous blast of pine forest cut with plentiful green apple. The flavor is deeply bitter right from the get-go, strong aggressive bitter hops in high density more or less overwhelming the malt backbone. The bitterness hits early in the flavor profile and sticks around long; one complaint is that on the long end the bitterness seems to go toward soapy.
This beer is absolutely loaded with hop flavor, and I’m impressed by that. The pieces don’t all fall together in perfection, but this is both an interesting IPA and a darn nice IPA nonetheless.

Big nose of malts and hops, with distinct citrus overtones. Flavor is much the same as the nose except there is a more spicy aspect. Really clean mouthfeel and decent finish. Good balance, and overall a quality IPA. notalush (2669), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jun 21, 2006 Well, it sure looks purdy (cloudy straw color with substantial, foamy head) - kind of a light aroma of dandilions and grapefruit - a little bit of sweetness up front, followed by a very bitter citrus taste, giving the beers overall taste experience like that of eating a grapefruit with sugar sprinkled on it - weak in the finish - not all that great. apoptosis (1316), Long Island, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 21, 2006 A fairly mild IPA, in fact, it could simply be called a pale ale instead. Very frothy, big-bubbled head over a cloudy orange body. Much too carbonated for me taste, really. It bursts in your mouth and kind of takes away from the whole enjoyment. The body is a tad too thin and watery in the finish as well, but its OK for such a warm evening as this. Strangely creamy for an IPA as well. Pleasantly balanced hop types, gently malted.
