Commercial Description:
Our version of the IPA beer style possesses a deep golden hue, rich malty flavor, a bold, complex, and enduring hop finish and is extremely full bodied. We dry hop this brew and use a combination of Fuggles and Chinook hop varieties resulting in an extremely enticing floral and spicy aroma as well as hop character. Great Western Two Row Pale Malt, De Wolf-Cosyns' Caravienne and Munich Malts are combined to achieve an initial specific gravity approaching 1.065.

bomber courtesy of Fordest, thanks Sean. pour is a rich copper amber with a fluffy off-white head, which settles to excellent lace. aroma is a mix of grapefruit and pine. flavor is buttery and malty with dry bitter hops on the tail. a better than average IPA and I found it very enjoyable.

Pours a clody dark orange with an extremely large rocky pale yellow head. Strong aroma of flower and pine hops with nice earthy notes. Sweet taste with strong notes of sharp malts. Thin body, not overly dry.

Extremely heavy white head. High carbonation levels in this beer. Pale gold body, yet cloudy. Aroma is very minimal though hops are evident. Excellent hops in the flavor, yet with some fruits that seem to clash a bit with the hops. Pallet is somewhat harsh, not smooth enough for my preference.

Hazy amber color with a creamy off-white head. Hoppy aroma with some hints of malt. Flavor of some light malt and light hops.

Bottled. Clear copper color with an almost ruby colored hue. Thick, frothy ivory head. Resinous aroma of oranges, pine, grass, flowers and burnt soil. Over the top metallic bitterness with very little malt. I really wanted to love this beer- Moylan’s is a great brewery but outside of a great aroma I found this one disappointing.(2.9 overall) Re-Rate. Draft. Clear pale copper color. Very hoppy aroma with pine and grapefruit dominating. Very hop forward with a grassy, grapefruit flavor. Good maltiness even though the flavor focuses on the hops. Bitter finish.

Pours with a frothy, two finger thick, light tan head that sits atop a brilliantly clear, copper amber colored beer. The aroma is focused on herbal and pine-like notes that carry a sharp grassiness to it. There is also some citrus notes, but not nearly as much as one would find in a typical American IPA; there are hints of grapefruit and orange. Underneath all of this is a solid, bright maltiness that reminds me of lightly toasted malt. The aroma is pretty nice, but the chosen hops have made it a tad harsh.

The beer is lightly sweet up front, but is fairly light on the palate, almost seems like an easy drinking pale ale, in the body department at least. There seems to be some stale malt notes here as well, but these are only really here in the finish and may be my imagination, though I don’t think so. There is lots of crystal malt type notes in the finish, as well as a solid bitterness. Up front there is an astringent herbal hoppiness that coats the teeth like a tannic green tea. As the beer warms up, the sweet malt notes begin to accentuate some of the citrusy hop flavors and to mellow out the harsher hop notes.

Pour gave a pretty decent head on top of a nice hazy copper body. Aroma is just as hoppy as the APA. Flavor however is distinctly different. There is a much stronger and more bitter taste to it, but it doesnt have a good malt body to back it up. There is a slightly roasted aftertaste to this, makes it really enjoyable. Second glass from the bomber gives this a lot more head. Flavors still come off not mixing as best as they could.

An unfortunate IPA. This could be a great beer, but there are too many problems. The yeast in the bottle clouds the pour, no matter how gently you tip it. The hops are definitley there, but they taste funny. Very piney and citrus, but not in a good way. It almost feels like Moylan’s gave up before they were finished.
