frankenkitty (1834), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA Sep 24, 2008 Cellared for a year, this was a real gusher when opened. That being said, its cream-colored head started huge and fell in peaks like a rootbeer float. Beneath that, an orange/amber body showed heavy particulate. Dry whiffs of Tang off the top which morphed into less artificial aromas of orange and tangerine along with a fresh pine scent. Malted notes beneath with mild alcohol. Grapefruit dominates flavor with additional citrus fruits and toffee. Finishes dry and lingers long with citric bitters. ((((((Since my traditional html references no longer work, I will simply mention that this 22 oz bottle was purchased in September, 2007 from Lundeed Liquors in Sycamore, IL.)))))) And I will continue to whine about my inability to use common punctuation and quotations in my reviews (along with the most inoffensive html tags) without having them explode into a shrapnel-storm of ampersands.
thegreenrooster (1600), St.louis, Missouri, USA Dec 31, 2008 Pour is a hazy orange with a average white head. Aroma is moderatly hoppy with some crystal malts. Flavor is again a very low hop with some malt and a soapy finish. Maybe this was a bad bottle but i think this was way off what a decent IPA should be. AgentSteve (1007), SF Bay Area, California, USA Dec 27, 2008 Pours a decent dark golden with a thin cream colored head. Nose is rich with pineapple and caramel but the flavor goes much more earthy and a bit gritty. Very bitter, lasting finish. fidel (400), Livermore, California, USA Dec 27, 2008 Pours golden amber, piney, malty, caramel, earthy, grainy, citrus, little spicey. alexanderj (1501), San Diego, California, USA Dec 26, 2008 Bottle, sampled at Christmas during family beer tasting. Amber color with a smallish sized head. Aroma of caramel, grass, earth, citrus and pine. Flavor was a bit watery and lacking great flavor. It was very earthy and grassy, which I was not too big a fan of. Really just an ok version of the style. KimJohansen (5207), Copenhagen V, Denmark Dec 25, 2008 Cloudy amber with hoaspaspy and aspiney notes. Hoasdpasdpy flavour with notes of graasdfpefruit and pine notes. Finished bitter.
