jason (1620), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 22, 2009 Bottle. Poured a dark black body with nice head. Aroma is cocoa, coffee. Flavor is bitter chococolate, light hops and coffee. More carbonated then I thought it would be. DJMonarch (6036), Northwich, Cheshire, England Jul 9, 2009 From the Jug at the GABF, Colorado Convention Center 12/10/2007
Coffee roast aroma. Small beige head. Black smooth and slightly creamy on the palate. Some bitterness in a full roast finish. BTetlow (7), BALLARAT, Australia does not count Apr 10, 2009 Poured with a nice chocolaty head and sat beautifully in the glass. A lovey brown/red hue.
I really enjoyed this stout but I thought it was too sweet to be a dry stout. I was surprised by by how light in body this was judging by how it poured, but I really enjoyed it.
I’m not a fan of nitrogenated beers, but fortunately this wasn’t overly evident. badlizard (2325), Berkeley, California, USA Mar 27, 2009 ON tap at brewery. Dark brown with no head. Roasty chocolate aroma. Milk chocolate and roasted coffee with a mild bitterness. dkingsella (85), Portland, Oregon, USA Mar 3, 2009 Pours dark black with a small dark tan head. Coffee in the nose as well as predominant in the flavor profile. Not as full bodied as I had expected...a little thin feeling. A decent dry stout. ryanknock (150), San Francisco, California, USA Jan 15, 2009 A very well balanced dry stout. Very roasty up front, chewy, coffee highlights with a slightly hoppy and bitter finish. Notes of chocolate, molasses, toast and coffee throughout, a delicious, sessionable stout. Great for a winter day at the local pub. mgermani (862), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Nov 29, 2008 Pours a pitch black with a short lived but finger-thick loose brown head - I was expecting a paler Guinness-style thick head... interesting. Head reduces to thin cover of foam on the top with some lacing. Aroma is very faint - thin toasted malt & light molasses. Tastes of very light coffee with plenty of cream, light chocolate, buttery and lightly toasty. Very faint bittering hops. Light carbonation, thin body, but quite pleasantly creamy mouthfeel. I do like the chocolaty taste here, and the thinness doesn’t bother me so much as I am expecting a sturdy but sessionable dry stout and Moylans delivers. Very nice! beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA Oct 1, 2008 Ebony body with a tall brown head. Roasted chocolate aroma. Dry cocoa and milk chocolate, very smooth body, with lingering chocolate in the finish. One solid stout, one of the best stouts I’ve had in a long time, great flavor with a mild ABV.
