Commercial Description:
This magnificent hearty stout will make any Irishman homesick. Paddy Giffen, the brewer, combines Great Western Two Row Pale, De Wolf-Cosyns Caravienne, De Wolf-Cosyns Special B, Breiss Black Barley, and Breiss Flaked Barley malts with Columbus hops in order to produce this distinct draft style ale. We use nitrogen gas to create an especially sturdy head and velvety sensation as one experiences the full body and rich roasted coffee flavors of this session beer. Moylan's Stout is modeled after the nitrogen-delivered draft stouts of Ireland. Unlike bottled stout, it is light in body and alcohol content. The mixed gas conditioning (nitrogen and carbon dioxide) delivers a smooth, creamy texture to both the palate and the eye.

(Nitro draft: Moylan's Brewery in Novato, CA) Moderately sweet, far too sweet for a dry Irish stout, but very welcomed and enjoyable, style be damned! Dark roasted, mildly bitter initially, but very toasty in the finish, and wow, what a nice finish; But again, unlike an Irish stout, the dark roasted maltiness is somewhat lighter than is typical for the style; The superb nose is mildly sweet, alcoholic, chocolaty candy and overall, it's wonderful; Fairly dry and medium to full bodied palate; Total black color, even at the edges; Lots of bubbles collect on the glass below the head line; Dark tan head has good retention, but it could be better considering this is off a nitro tap;

Ebony body with a tall brown head. Roasted chocolate aroma. Dry cocoa and milk chocolate, very smooth body, with lingering chocolate in the finish. One solid stout, one of the best stouts I’ve had in a long time, great flavor with a mild ABV.

A very well balanced dry stout. Very roasty up front, chewy, coffee highlights with a slightly hoppy and bitter finish. Notes of chocolate, molasses, toast and coffee throughout, a delicious, sessionable stout. Great for a winter day at the local pub.

On tap @ Moylans poured a translucent dark brown with a large lasting creamy tan head. Aromas of milk chocolate, mocha and vanilla. Palate was light bodied, smooth, creamy and slightly dry. Flavors of coffee, coca and light vanilla with a smooth dry bittersweet finish.

Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, light espresso. It’s nice to see that this isn’t on nitro. Taste is filling with coffee, raspberries, and chocolate.

Draft-Nitrogen @ brewery. Very dark, almost brown head, aroma of coffee, very creamy and smooth, pretty flavorful for an Irish Stout, a style that I normally find lacking
