Pours a semi-hazy copper amber brew with a thin off-white head that quickly dissipates to a thin ring. Aroma of caramel malt, a touch of smoked peat, and some toffee. Taste is medium bodied, with flavors of toasted dark malt, toffee, some iced tea and a hint of butter. Finish is semi-sweet with a short lived bitterness that quickly disappears. Nice alcohol warmth too. grimreeser (797), Minnesota, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 28, 2008 Thin head of fine bubbles. Does not last long. Sweet malty aroma with some caramel, a bit of smoke and some earthy notes. Color is a dark mahagony brown with a hint of red. Slicky malty flavor with some vegetal notes, a bit of spice (nutmeg) and some peaty notes. Not a great scotch ale. Finishes kind of slick and grainy. Weird. Lingering malts and vegetal notes. Not too bad but there are many better. Syd (911), Waconia, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 26, 2008 Bottle pours a slightly hazed light brown to amber with a small head that diminishes rapidly. The aroma is solid malt, light peat, butter, and some refined sugar. The flavor is sweet, malty, toffee, tea, nutty, and buttery. The palate is fairly rich and pretty carbonated with some residual coating that detracts rather than pleases. Overall, I’m fairly conflicted here since it (as a whole) does provide me with a nice overall pint moment and improves my existence in this moment, it also is technically not very impressive on individual merits. I like it well enough though - and it got me nice and buzzed on a Friday afternoon. Gypsy19 (663), California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 25, 2008 I thought this one would be rated higher. Pungent spoiled fruit and the malts are the highlights of this brew. Tasty sweet brown sugar and toffee to boot, with a soulful throat and esophagus burn. Tasty and recommended. mgermani (866), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 24, 2008 Pours a clear amber with no head whatsoever. Aroma is very sweet and buttery. Strong malting and present hops "lift" this beer from being bland and diacetyl-ridden. Hint of red-bean, good lingering finish. Decent carb, thin body. A very good example of the style, but not drinkable in any large quantity. esjaygee (1600), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 20, 2008 Copper-amber with a thin off-white head. Aroma of toffee, caramel, fruit and mild alcohol. Taste of toffee, caramel, roasted malt and mild alcohol. A bit sticky, decent but not great. Aurelius (2655), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 18, 2008 Dark red brown, ivory head. Peated aroma, sweet and fruity. High gravity flavor, very sweet, pretty bitter. Robust body. Finishes boozy and toasted. This wasn’t the most complex that I’ve ever had, but it was pretty drinkable.
