The aroma is malty raspberries and brown sugar. The flavor is a solid caramel malt with a bit of bitter spice to it. A little bit of an oaky roasted characteristic. Very Scotch. A really smooth silky mouthfeel. Not too heavy and pretty well balanced. DragonsHead (137), Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, USA

Sweet on the aftertaste; this is different for the usual scotch ale, but it’s definitely sweet and enjoyable Definitely one of my favorites to just enjoy after a meal. I can’t recommend on a "light" day, but when enjoyed as a "real beer", it’s something to reach for. kmeves (1081), Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 12, 2008 Poured from tap an orange-brown with small beige head. Aroma is dominated by malt, nuts and grain. Flavor is sweet roasted grain, caramel, malt and a light nuttiness. Palate runs from light malt sweet and becomes a bit watery at the finish. I would drink this one again. It is balanced more to the sweet side than I prefer however.
