good solid one from Moylans. slabonator (29), Dallas, Texas, USA

Peaty, toffee, light caramel, chocolate and slightly sweet. Vanilla maybe some butterscotch - in a good way. I like this brewery. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 31, 2007 22oz bottle pours copper with a short tan creamy head that fades back to a ring but laces a little from there. Aromas of caramel, toffee, and some earthy notes as well. Flavor is caramel, toffee, toasted malts, and some light grapefruit on the finish. Palate leans towards the malty side. A little chalky but pretty smooth overall. Slight bitterness on the finish. Not a bad scotch ale.. mgardner (8), USA does not count | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 23, 2007 Nice caramel color. Peaty aroma with some toffee as well. Sweet caramel taste with a lingering butterscotch finish. Solid beer. IrishBoy (2726), Bakersfield, California, USA

Not my favorite Moylans. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jan 11, 2007 22 oz bottle from Table and Vine in Northampton, MA (September 2006), consumed at cellar temperature from a Chouffe (Magic) tulip glass. Clear copper-cherry body is topped by a very stable medium-bubbled light tan head that leaves minimal lacing as it fades.....herbal, heathery-grassy notes are the immediate first wafts in the aroma; later, a bit of sherry and caramel show up; it’s pleasant but a bit too light and soft....on the tongue, again the sherry notes, and lighter white wine, odd and not entirely attractive....shortly a richer, more robust note of lightly smoky malts appears, a touch of roast and a bit of caramel....carbonation is soft, smooth and velvety....this is in the end far too grapy, light and effervescent, fruity and sweet-tart to make it as a Scotch Ale IMHO, I would almost place it closer to an ESB....it’s not bad overall, but it ain’t what I’m looking for. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 4, 2007 Thanks to my wife for this. Pours deep brownish with 1-finger or so tan head. Aroma of caramel malt, some figgy fruit, brown sugar, a solid dose of nutty aromas, and some slight rauchy wafts, this one has a medium to slightly heavy palate, with the initial flavors being caramel malty brown sugar, although not as sweet, giving way to some nutty and figgy fruit notes at mid-palate. Smooth and enjoyable. Bartzilla (445), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 2, 2007 On tap from my kegerator. This was the NYE offering at the compound. Pretty flavorful and not overboard on the smoke. For an 8% ale, this is an easy drinker. Made a whole bunch of us into total retards well before the balls were dropping on the east coast. Good stuff.
