| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 27, 2006 Bottle. Dirty/hazy brown body wit a small white/brown top. The aroma is rye-ish with prominent caramel notes, and sweet vegetables. Lots of caramel flavour and sticky sugar. Smoke lingers in the middle- carbonated mouthfeel. Pretty solid mild complexity. Easy to drink. JoeMcPhee (5056), Jackson Heights, New York, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Nov 26, 2006 22 oz bomber. Hazy orange brown beer, fast fading off-white head. Aroma is caramelly, brown sugar, toast, some orange fruit and light plumminess. This bottle hasn’t been very well-kept I don’t think though. Oxidized and sourish flavour. Sweet maltiness but lacks a great deal of complexity as well. Not what I wa looking for at all... but I’ll revisit when I get a chance. HogTownHarry (4026), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 21, 2006 Bottle (650ml). Shared with biegaman, blankboy and mds - my bottle. Murky orange-brown, creamy thin beige head. Sweet and delicately spicy boozy aroma, very malty, light green minty hops. Light taste, malty chocolate, leafy green hops, light booze - quick finish, nice balanced finish. Syrupy body, lightly carbonated, feels excellent on the tongue - my bottle was in good shape, we all liked it quite a bit. PilsnerPeter (2667), Flushing, New York, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Nov 17, 2006 Nice color. Pours an auburn/brown with an orange hue. Minimal off white head. Aroma is cinnamon, malty and slightly flowery. Very thin body, with a slight balsamic vinegar tartness upfront, with a later toffee character. Herbal note of chamomile and English tea. Slight thin watered down lemon juice character, but not a good one which would arive from hops; just a strange flavor. Thin and watery all together. I don’t believe that it’s 8% alcohol. dwyerpg (2553), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Nov 6, 2006 This is odd in flavor, tart and funky, I think something was wrong with this bottle. Not very good. 7th beer at the tasting party. Ty5592 (1015), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Nov 1, 2006 Bottle from Craig. Brown color with malty, funky aroma. The taste was the same with sweet/sour flavor. I really want to like scotch ales but I don’t. Thanks Craig. RagallachMC (631), Cleveland, Ohio, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Oct 22, 2006 bomber. Aroma: Somewhat mild aroma for the style. Sweet malt and caramel, alcohol, grape jam, pepper, and a touch of toasted nuts. Appearance: Light garnet in color and clear. Off-white head was small and rocky. Fair lacing. Flavor: Caramel, malt sweetness, very light chocolate, some more grape-like fruitiness, and a strong alcohol note near the finish. Also getting a stronger than expected hop profile than expected. Not bad, but not great either. Palate: Medium-light bodied. Medium carboantion. Fairly high alcohol warming for a beer of this abv. Overall: Not that great. Aroma was too weak, Flavor just didn’t pull together, and mouthfeel was too thin. Cliff (366), Avon Lake, Ohio, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Oct 17, 2006 this beer was not good at all, way way way too much malt and nothing to keep it even remotely balanced, i know a scotch ale should be more about malt, but this was like drinking syrup that had been marinated in molasses.
