Flavor, malty, but thinner than I expected, more grapey notes. Kinda sorry I drank a whole bomber by myself. I’ve definitely had better from moylans. kramer (2482), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 6, 2006 22 oz bottle, via dhlesq. Pours a clear dark ruby colored body with a very fizzy light brown head that faded rather quickly. Aroma is quite sweet with some caramel and grape soda notes. Some light peat and alcohol as well. Flavor is a little thinner than expected. Alot of sweet malt with little to no bitterness to balance things out. Some light peat and alcohol on the finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a syrupy texture and moderate fine fizzy and prickly carbonation. Overall, I didn’t really care for this very much. Too sweet and no complexity at all. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 3, 2006 Tap. Pours with a ciopper to brown color. Aromas of caramel and a bit of hops. Flavors more dominated by malts, some hoppiness and a bit of chocolate. Hides the alcohol very well, almost too well. Very pleasant mouthfeel and palate, just the right body. scanman (146), Santa Cruz, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 7, 2006 Pours a dark brown with a thick head. Tasty but very complex. Flavors don’t seem alive or potent, but there is a lot of nice balance. Malt, hops, sweet creamy ale. Well worth trying. Needs an expiration date, I don’t trust my beer store for good turn around. redave (135), squaw valley, California, USA

A nice brown ale colored.
Very nice thick [two fingered at least] head, cream colored. Nice thick Brussels lacing all the way down!
This is what a Scotch ale should be in my book.
Some earthy slightly smokey aroma
Malty well balanced flavor.
Easy to drink, careful of the % Eugene! Seems like a session beer [minus a few alcohol percentage points of course]
Tasty beverage! rudolf (1782), Buffalo, New York, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 25, 2006 (06.26.06) One pint, 6 oz brown bottle from Liquorama.com. 8% ABV. Poured hazy brown with giant off-white head. Good carbonation. Caramel hoppy aroma. Medium bodied Scotch-style ale that starts semi-dry with light malt sweetness and toasted malt/caramel/hop flavors. Finished dry with light malt fade. Well-balanced and smooth. Definite alcohol warmth. This is a very good ale.
